Hello everyone , don't want to start a morbid thread but as we experience life as such are there any here that have regrets because they done something or something they didn't do and in the end wished they didn't or wished they did ..a simple yes or no will do ..it can be small or big ..or do people have regrets anyway ..is it a natural thing to have them ?

I really try not to have regrets, especially if looking back the thing I did at the time made me smile. However, I do have many regrets and will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for them.

No real regrets, the choices I've made were the right ones at the time.

In the west.

I have loads from different periods of my life. Some are bigger than others.

They are a bit like dreams, I keep them to myself and therefore they aren't as painful.

Nope.

Everything I've done or things that have happened to me have made me who I am.

I might wish things could have been slightly different but there's nothing can change that now so regretting things are utterly pointless

Pointless having regrets. Can’t right the perceived wrongs.

Fuck looking back, it’s wasted energy and time.

I've often thought about this and while I could say that I've got a couple of regrets, at the end of the day the things that have happened, have happened for a reason so I don't regret them at all. Everything we choose and do shapes us as people. What's important is that we learn by these things x

It is perfectly natural to have regrets. Life is full of choices and as a result there's all manner of choices and possibilities for people and so there are choices not taken.

Better to regret the things that you have done, than the things you haven’t.

My only serious regret is inviting my in-laws to live with us. That’s something I’d genuinely like to be able to punch the younger me straight in the face for.

I have 2 regrets so far in my life, I no longer beat myself up about them but if I could turn the clock back I would.

The only positive thing to come from them is I know I wont make the same mistake twice.

Regrets are a waste of time and effort. You can only live in the present.

My own personal way of navigating life is as follows:-

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

Not getting on a career path earlier, stuck in a rut in a job I didn't like. Fixed it now but if I could go back and change one thing it would be that.

No regrets as i would not have ended up how i am today.

Any deviation would have had a different outcome.

Mistakes - bloody loads ffs!

I'm pretty sure most people can think of at least one thing they wish they had done another way. And I realised a long time ago that there is no delete button for past mistakes. So I don't beat myself up about the past anymore as I can't change it. I just try to move forward and try to not dwell on things.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

I don't regret things I do, only the things I don't.

That's not to say I don't beat myself up over some of the damn stupid mistakes I've made.

Sometimes we cannot change some of the things we've done or didn't do ,we are there because maybe we had no choice at that particular time , like staying in a job for longer than we wanted simply because it was the lesser of two evils at the time , sometimes we just roll with the punches because we simply have no choice at that particular time. Thanks so much for taking time to post or reply here , l didn't think tbh that the number of replies would be as much , I though 10 at most so it was a nice surprise.

Leeds (Home) / Sheffield (Work)

Wish someone had told me the money I was earning while at uni (full time hours between 3 jobs) could have been saved and used to travel throughout the year, rather than spending on nights out. Though many of them night outs were the best time of my life so I don’t regret it too much.

I just thought after paying all my parents bills and rent etc, it wasn’t much to do anything with. I put off a lot of holidays with friends thinking that way and regret not doing the interrail as we (my friends) always dreamed about doing.

Thankfully I have a great career, house and a lot more money. I just don’t have the time and meeting friends needs to be booked 2-3 business days in advance

Was that a song lyric?

Lots of things I could have done differently, non that I can change now. Regrets can’t fix your past they can only mess up how you currently feel.

I think it’s extremely hard to face a regret because it means admitting to your part in it- be it the shame or feeling of failure in making the mistake, feeling like a fool etc But overall I think facing it entirely owning it and truly moving on is the healthiest you can do by far. Xx

True dat. All we can do is learn innit? Make today better. Past is gone and tomorrow never comes. All we have is today.

Now THAT is going to be a bloody song lyric

I live by the motto only regret the things you didn’t do. The things I did do, even if I’m not proud of them, I learned from them.

There’s a few things I’ve said no to that I really wish I hadn’t though.

Only one regret I wish I hadn't argued with my dad the night before he died we left each other on bad terms

It's probably why I make sure there are no ill feelings exist with anyone I know today after a disagreement

Y'know that Butterfly Effect film? Life is that random maybe if you had said yes to one of those things you might have not been here right now. You may have been crossing a road in front of someone not paying attention. There's a bit in a book I like where the protagonist is calmly fleeing from falling debris. She says she probably should be going more speedily but it occurs to her that she could just as easily run into the path of a falling stone than away from one.

That’s very true. I wouldn’t say I’m a believer in fate but very small decisions can have a massive impact on your life.

They certainly can. I guess with no rewind button we can never know if it's fate or not. All we can do is put our minds at ease so today is the best it can be

No really any regrets at all, but I decided recently that the memories I want to look back on in 20 years need to be a bit more like the ones 20 years ago so that I don’t end up having regrets later

I do have regrets…and things I would given the opportunity do very differently. However all those questionable decisions has got me to this point in life…who I am and the people I have…for that I’m grateful!
