The weather is putting me off, I'm a fair weather runner / cyclist.
I completed it last year, then stopped, I need to eat better to shift some weight so i can enjoy it more. But I haven't been out for 10 days, so I'll have to go back a few weeks to get back.
When I get out and the weather is dry I do enjoy it |

I don’t mind the weather unless it’s pissing down but it can be a de motivator |

I'm a keen runner. I go out twice a week every week. Done London 4 times. Best being 2hrs 56mins. Blackpool 10k 10 times best being 37 mins. Also done quite a few fun runs 4 & 5 milers. Keeps you fit healthy and clears your mind of life's problems. |

That’s some quick times, how did you manage to get in London 4 times? |

I’ve had an ankle injury since September. Even if a run a couple of km it flares up and I’m out of action for a few weeks. I think I’m going to have to take up cycling |

Though I'm not doing it myself, I'm supporting some fellow runners taking in a 50 mile ultra soon.
We're out twice during the week and longer runs on a Saturday
Trail running is our thing, it must have been a couple of years before lock down since I last did a road race |

Which race are they doing? Trail running is always better than road |

No idea. I was running regular 5k’s and woke up with a sore slightly swollen ankle. I left it until it felt better and ran again and the same thing happened. I stopped running altogether to give it time to heal and did my first run last week. My ankle has been sore ever since. |

In a effort to get back into it I’m going to try and get out and do some intervals later in an effort kick start my training after a break after London followed by Christmas then getting covid. The best thing I could do is shift this weight around my tummy I’ve gained, I feel slow ( not that I was ever fast) |

Huge Salute to all runners , absolutely , but unfortunately not for me thank you , l just can't be doing an event where l can do damage to my ankles , knees and hips , I'll stick to my skipping rope and body weight exercises but good luck at ALL who train and experience the joys of running ,l do indeed salute each and every one . |

I am still running OP
I am trying to sort out a back nerve problem which sends pain messages down my leg like sciatica. It's a very long process but it has meant shorter, easier runs for me for a while... which I am actually enjoying.
I have Snowdon marathon in October and I am hoping my back/leg will be much improved by then. I ran Newport marathon in October'21 and had last 16 miles of absolute pain but I did finish it....stubborn old cow that I am
Best of luck for your marathon training OP, it's great to hear you are back distance running again

Ah the much deserved and greatly looked forward to rest week, although it's nothing like a rest really is it haha.
Yeah I have stretches and am not as good at doing them as I need to be.... naughty lady.
How are you feeling regarding your training? Is it all going well? How do you manage your fuel intake? During my marathon I felt like I had a mobile picnic...well not quite

not anymore. i have done a marathon and 4 1/2 marathons
for the marathon training towards the end i used to get the train to the next town and run back - either running or walking until i did it was about 20 miles. wednesday was either sprints or hill training... towards the end i was up to about 45 miles a week..
remember to warm up cool down and do some yoga on rest day or something. good luck

I have a sore ankle, probably tendinitis so no running for me today.
I'm supposed to be running a HM in 2 weeks but it's looking unlikely. Or maybe I'll run/walk it if my ankle is OK.
I've got my first triathlon in the summer and then an ultra marathon (picnic running) at the end of summer. |

Everywhere we look we find her exact symptoms described and the solution is always some stretching but more importantly working on her glutes which have spent years being sat on and in between perched over a pair of high heels and occasionally spanked- none of which are any use for long distance runs. However, getting her to do any strength work is impossible. It doesn't help that I'm nearly as bad. My knee is a little off since my 110 mile race in Jan and I've done next to nothing towards re-hab either
At the moment I'm prepping for my first 140.6 tri, the cycle leg is basically the same route as the Fred Whitton sportive in the lakes with 3600m ascent so at the moment this is my main focus, the 26 mile run up Scafell Pike seems a lot less daunting in comparison. Training was going well but had a really busy week with work so have done nothing all week

I feel the same OP. It might be that age is creeping up on me but I'm up to half for a marathon in May too and it feels harder than ever! |
