...does it have to be a different colour to their skin? And does it have to finish at their chin, ears, brow etc like a mask?
An analogy, when spraying a car, the object is to use the same colour as the original and if it requires a 'face lift' the colour sprayed should blend into other panels to hide the fact it is hiding wear and tear.
Most times this works with quality work, but sometimes if it isn't applied correctly or by an amateur, it looks like a multi-coloured clown car.
So, as an example, ladies make-up, orange foundation that doesn't go any further than the chin etc, blue eye shadow, purple blusher, red lipstick and so on.

also, sometimes on pics the make up can look different to when you see it for real
i dont wear that much make up on a day to day basis, that way when i wear it to go out the difference is more noticeable  |

Have seen this look and it's not good but look at all the advertising that keeps mentioning words like flawless and you might start to understand why some women think that their natural beauty is not acceptable. |

There is a girl in my work place, who is like this. She is pretty girl, but her face, neck, arms are all differing colours, she looks like a Ronseal paint chart. She got upset when I called her 50 Shades of Orange...  |

Yuk, never use foundation ever. It comes off on absolutely everything and is a nightmare to remove. It also makes me feel 'dirty'. Eye make up yes, foundation, never. |

I work with a lady who was an Avon rep a few years ago, she always has a layer of foundation on the collar of her blouse and her lipstick and blusher come somewhere between Aunt Sally and Coco the Clown!....makes me cringe!  |

I don't wear any most days. I tend to put it on only when I'm going out or taking photos. |

You guys are lucky I have fourteen year old twin daughters who want to do my make up when I go out ..... So they do half my face each !!!!!!
Don't tell them I do a few minor adjustments when they aren't looking !!!  |

I hardly put makeup on, I'm sexy enough without it! But when I do it's minimal and never orange, that looks fake and I would prefer the natural beauty of a person to shine through.  |

day to day its only mascara and lip gloss but i still feel like i need it |

A lot of the time it is because they have not been helped with make-up or taught how to apply it.. When my daughter started to use make-up I took her to get colour matched for her foundation and paid for a lesson on how to apply foundation. She can experiment all she wants with the other stuff but there was no way she was going out looking like she'd been tango'd

I wouldn't go out to a club/meet without any. But it often needs touching up... 
But it has to be a good match. My current issue is that I've fairly recently been on my hols and since I use a higher factor sunscreen on my face my face/neck is lighter than the rest of me. I recently bought a new foundation (from one of the department store counters) and she matched it to the skintone on my body 
I used it twice and took it back the other day and got my money back. But when I told some of my friends they said they wouldn't dare return it when they'd used some and, because it wasn't cheap, would carry on using it till it was gone.
So perhaps some of these twotone women just need to stand up to the make up counter girl! |

Ok, I'll be the first to admit, I love my make up! I don't leave the house without it and I don't go for the au natural look either, but.... hopefully....I don't look like I've been tango'd (though I may be deluding myself) But hey that's just me, like it or leave it |
