I get you its a horrible situation but people do tend to defuse tension and fear with dark humour its not to everyones taste but same happened with covid too |

I think for some people, humour is a coping mechanism and after Covid, Afghanistan and now this, I can see why some don't want to just wallow in how awful the world is right now. Granted its probably a bit soon and can be seen as insensitive to others but I do believe that deep down most people are horrified by what is happening right now. |

I just cannot watch the news at the moment, it break my heart what's going on in Ukraine..and my heart goes out to all those innocent people that are suffering right now  Putin should be ashamed of himself nasty man!  |

I gave q dark humour that gets me through. People are what they are. Offence is q personal issue qnd should never be pushed upon anyone
I have q load of very good mates discussing qn aid run to Ukraine qnd I am contemplating going with. We Coul do with some extra hands but don't see many volenteers |

Having lived through the dark years in NI, black humour was the one thing that kept most of us sane.
People who didn't live over here could never understand how we took the piss out of one another in moments of great tragedy. If we hadn't there would have been many more moments of tragedy. |

I'm very much for dark humour as I think most already know, but... I'm so bloody cynical these days and have seen every angle used in order to bean blow that for some I do believe they'll be using it as leverage/scare tactics/pressure rather than gallows humour. That bothers me. |

Black humour is often a trauma response for some, I knew an ex army medic and the stuff he would come out with could make the blood drain from your face.
Ever heard the saying if you didn't laugh you'd cry?
It's not crass, it's coping and personally I find it poor taste to judge someone's coping mechanisms.

You might want to do some research in to the way the brain works and copes with situations.
The very fact that there is a condition that causes people to laugh involuntarily when presented with traumatic events and even death is proof enough that it is certainly not cobblers.
You dismissing such a situation is crass if you think about it. |
