Shrove Tuesday is swiftly approaching. Any suggestions for what to put in them? Jaffa cakes are not allowed
Also, do you make your own from scratch or use a kit, or buy them ready made?
I've always liked them with just sugar, but recently discovered how great they are with chocolate spread. And we always make our own from scratch ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Another vote for lemon and sugar. Home made definitely (don't forget to let batter stand for at least 20 mins before using)
I have had cherry filled from a cafe, OMG ![](/icons/s/twisted.gif) |

"I love mine plain with just sugar and lemon
We are allowed more than 1 though right?!
We have all sorts floating around the kitchen on pancake day. I love the variety.

I’m just gonna take that as an invite. Hope that’s ok x |

"We have a savoury one first though, chicken stir fry in soy sauce, peppers, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, bean sprouts, spring onion, cabbage and then wrap it up "
I'll be honest, I forgot about the joy of savoury pancakes. We don't have them often, but have enjoyed them with creamy chicken inside and also bacon and cheese. Yum ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I won’t be having any unless I visit my parents, but when I do get them they are made from scratch filled with either golden syrup and strawberries or chocolate or toffee ice cream. Yum! |

"Made from scratch.
Dunno if this is the Irish way or not but people over here don't seem to do it, but spread with butter, sugar and a squeeze of lemon. "
That's the way my mother did them & she is from Co.Wicklow. |

"Simple lemon and sugar. Or when the batter is cooking through in some raisins, then lemon or sugar.
Second one is hot Cherry or apple, with a dollop of vanilla ice cream then folded over. "
Oh that has made me think of the Jubilee pancake at the Little Chef as a kid. |

That is exactly where it stems from. It was part of my last meal treat before returning to boarding school food each term |

"From scratch, but make batter day before and leave in fridge, will be much better. Plain pancake with sugar and lemon every time."
Definitely so much better. Make a big enough batch and enough for Yorkshire’s too ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
