I have always been interested in various collectibles, antiques etc and like looking around even just for browsing. Nice little antique shops, fairs, carboot sales, that sort of thing. I particularly like small objet d'art and considering starting a little collection as a hobby. I am fond of little silver boxes but can be priced unusually high sometimes. Any ideas of what might keep my interest but not cost a fortune? Hopefully will get some sensible answers and not regret I asked |

"I used to collect Pint glasses, which has now left me with a wide variety to use from!"
I knew someone who used to go backpacking and brought home beer mats from various countries - beats a postcard |

And pubs out of pocket?"
Actually sent off for them from promotions etc, I know its easy to nab one from a pub but avoided doing that. |

"Stuff like silver teaspoons? Coins from around the world (try for one from every country or something?)?
Old fishing reels are quite nice objects, and can be mounted and made into art.

Thanks, used to have a big coin collection when younger to go with my massive stamp collection. I gave both to relatives before. Teaspoons or similar sounds appealing. Will see what little things others suggest too. |
