I once worked with a 16-year old who was abused from the age of 3-15. He had sex with a 12-year old.
He will almost undoubtedly offend again and be considered a paedophile. Things are nowhere near as clear-cut as people think they are.

The death penalty is wrong on so many levels, and is no longer an option in decent thinking society for lots of reasons.
In the UK, consider the cases of the Guildford Four and Birmingham Six. Upon conviction, the trial judge stated that if the death penalty had been a sentencing option he would have applied it. Years later, ten people walked free from prison after finally being acquitted. For many pro death penalty figures in the establishment, that ended their desire in seeing it returned to the statue books. Interestingly, the trial judge said if had used the death penalty he wouldn’t have had any regrets!
But, you mention cost as plus for the death penalty. In the states, where it is used, it costs more to execute a prisoner than to keep them incarcerated for the rest of their days. |
