Prompted by another thread. At my local supermarket, there's a McDonald's on the way out. As I walked out today, a couple stood in front of the touch screen obelisk of calorific desires. He stuck his finger up his nose... Gave it a good twirl (like doing a lft test but using his finger) removed said nasal probing digit and without further ado started to scroll and press the touch screen with the very same finger. I jest ye not. Rant over... Enjoy your Sunday supper. |

I see stuff like this on a daily when I'm at work. Not as bad now due to changes we've made but I won't eat anywhere that's self serve.
Seen grown men scratching their nutsack (inside the clothing) and then touching foody items other people will be handling.
Kids picking wedgies, noses, scratching heads that for all anyone knows could be transporting lice.
Seen a child pop an olive in their mouth thinking it was a grape and spitting it back out into the tub of olives which someone else would have eaten if I hadn't seen it happen and had to throw the lot away.
The list goes on and on. |

"We live in a world where people will lick another person's ass hole for pleasure. But that same person will throw a fit if they see someone double dip a crisp. "
Licking a chocolate starfish you're knowingly taking a risk, you don't and shouldn't expect to be eating someone else's dingleberry coz they were too rotten to wash their hands after dropping the kids off at the pool and then touching stuff. |

"True fact : they tested the touch screens in a number of McDonalds and found traces of poo on every single one
Honestly! https://metro.co.uk/2018/11/28/poo-found-on-every-mcdonalds-touchscreen-tested-8178486/amp/ "
Absolutely believe it. I tell ya people are vile. |

"People truly are disgusting.
This is the reason I avoid the Lidl bakery, no sneeze guards or any other protection from God knows what else "
When I raised it with them and the fact they did not even have any tongs or signs to ask customers not to touch, they looked at me as if I was from another planet. Before even lidl came to this country, all their shops in Germany had protected glass, tongs etc. I am shocked to see how many just pick everything with their hands or squeeze stuff and have even seen someone take a bite of a pastry and putting it back. Disgusting!! |

"Jeez that truly is disgusting! Just as well I don't do McDonald's
If only it was a Maccies only issue."
Exactly, no doubt all the supermarket touch screens too amongst others
If covid has done one positive thing, that is more people using sanitiser than before, at least many of us not the pooh fingered culprits |

"I use all touch screens with trepidation anyway, will be using someone elses finger from now on "
But what if that person had not washed their hands after a number 2 and you appropriated their finger for the touch screen |

Pre-rona whenever a norovirus struck we had to change the utensils and self serve area every half hour because people are minging and anywhere multiple people touch is classed as high risk for contamination and germ spreading. A norovirus outbreak in a food establishment will get ya closed down for a week.
People really don't think about consequences to others livelihoods etc when they're being grim. |

It's all just to hideous to think about isnt it really. Cash machines round here seem to be dripping in grime I have to use my car keys now as pressers. |

It's strange that we all were pushed towards using contactless cards but to get to that point you have to touch the screen several times whether at the supermarket, the carpark, the bank and so many more places. And of course every so often you still have to manually enter your pin anyway. |

Problem is people could see your PIN if you are having to use your keys as a presser? I just have my sanitiser ready and use my non-pressing hand to remove the card, then money then sanitise the pressing hand. It does sound far-fetched on the surface but really it is necessary |

"This is one of the reasons I hate touch screens.
The other is that they are not disability friendly, if you're blind, really short or in a wheelchair.
"
^^^This. I managed to get NCP to reprogramme the touch screens that guard the entrance back into the car park at work. They were programmed by someone standing up so didn't recognise the fingertip unless it was parallel to the screen or at an angle slightly above. Impossible in a wheelchair.
Don't get me started on self service checkouts. Where the fuck am I supposed to put my knees?! Can't use the fuckers |

Pre covid I had monthly rows with the receptionists at my Gp.
The GP fitted touch screens to log your arrival. I watched people cough and sneeze over said screens and refused to use them.
The receptionists said I must. I said I wouldn’t and asked for a complaint form.
They were absolutely grim as fuck. Thankfully they’ve been done away with since covid - one big plus. |

Ours have reinstated the touch screen check in, with wipes next to them. The last time, I entered my info, only to be told I had to check in at the kiosk. What a waste of potential touch point contamination |

Any touchscreen you ever touch will have been touched by someone described above before you. |

Let's be honest, nobody knows for sure how hygienic anything we get or buy is but I certainly not buy anything loose like pastry and bread rolls. On the odd ocassion that I have done is when I am there when they bring them out, they are using gloves to put in the containers there are tongs and gloves available for me to pick anything I want, bag it and leave before the lick before you buy brigade arrives. |
