"I'm so Dizzy, my head is spinning
Like a whirlpool, it never ends
You're making me DIZZY"
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round |

"Astronomers now claim that as well as spinning on the Earth's axis, we also circle around the sun..
So if this is true then why are we not all dizzy?"
Because the entire universe is going in the opposite direction to balance it out.
Either that or magnets and duct tape. |

Near the centre of the disc we don't feel a thing
Those nearer the edge are the ones at risk but generally that's where the people with tin foil hats live so that makes them less susceptible. |

Haven't we always done this? "

I think that in medieval times there were scientists like Nostrodamus and alchemists who speculated. One famous branch of science believed that the earth was carried on the backs of giant elephants. It was only when the Russian Cosmonauts travelled into space on Sputnik did they suspect that the earth was spherical. Some believed that the earth was flat and even today there is a flat earth society. Whether we are spinning and orbiting is not 100 % proven but a theory which may be discredited as more knowledge and information is gained. This may be space travel. |

Your grasp of science is a little 'odd'. |

Have you added a bit of Terry pratchett in there? |

And to answer your question Tom, dizziness is a result if change in angular momentum, either acceleration or deceleration. As the earth spins and orbits at a constant speed we don't notice hence no dizziness. |

No. It’s a known, demonstrable fact |

Most of these opinions you refer to Tom are based on Psueso Science and conjecture, with no basis backed up by fact, solid science or any form of evidence. |

"Be prepared to challenge these scientist types who preach a new religion until they are proved wrong.. they can be buggers.."
Science and the scientific community simply doesn't work that way. Theories can be put forward which are then challenged or corroborated by other experts in a particular field an theories can be disproven or advanced upon. What is isn't built upon is unsupported opinion. A lot of things are established and accepted facts as the tests have been repeated (by other experts who have studied for years) and verified by quantifiable results.
On the other hand you have people who believe anything a half arsed, unqualified Youtuber spouts out. |

It’s the best we have the scientific method of hypothesis, test / observe , draw conclusions, publish , communicate, debate, then build new theories on top. There will always be new theories that add to or disprove in some cases the previous work that’s how humans advance.
Anyone who thinks it doesn’t work should read The Toaster Project. Or try to build a skyscraper or launch a rocket into space without using hundreds of years of scientific theories |
