Done this forum a few times and had some great recommendations so thought I'd do it again.
Anyhow, I would love to hear recommendations of lesser known funk, soul, or jazz artists. And other genres tbf.
I like sampling songs on my mpc, especially things I can loop or chop up to rearrange. It's all to make hip hip beats which no longer sound like the original. I'm a crate digger and have spent lots of time searching through vinyls so know most the more popular artists so anything a bit more underground or under appreciated would work for me.
Thanks in advance! |

So many to name. Al Green has to be up there for me. I also love curtis Mayfield, detroit emeralds, gap band and roy ayers.
I love hip hop though so it takes up a lot of my listening time.
How about you? |

Good shouts there OP. I'll throw Gil Scott Herron into the mix if I may.

"We both collect soul vinyl 45s and go to clubs and weekends. At the moment we are listening to collins and Collins and take me up to the top of the stairs "
Ahh not heard of that so will definitely add it to my list. 45s are still reasonably priced as well.
Thank you very much! |

The Craig Charles funk and soul show is a great listen and has some fine lesser knowns among the biggies. Check out Al Wilson, Roy Ayers and Charles Mingus for a mixture if you are not already familiar. Good luck OP |

Yeah I saw him play a few times when I lived in Manchester. Had to make sure I had shazam at the ready because he always played some great tunes. Yeah heard of and love Mingus and Ayers but not heard much Al Wilson. Will check him out. Thanks very much! |
