Do non smokers count vaping as smoking?
Jump to: Newest in thread
We'd both like to see Fab add a vaping option to profiles. We both dislike the clinging smell that comes with smokers so won't meet them but we have no problem with people vaping, and at the moment there's no easy way to distinguish

I don't, I think they're very different. I wouldn't expect someone to tell me they vape and I wouldn't expect to notice if they're considerate about it.
The only issue I have with vapers is when they're inconsiderate. I've met more than one who thinks nothing of blowing a huge gust of smoke into my face - not the type of facial I've ever enjoyed. |

Some of the vapes are really strong and put off a really sickly smell. It's always a better smell than stale reek though. As an ex smoker I don't mind the smell of fresh smoke, but stale is horrid. I would class vaping as smoking but I will met smoekrs so it doesn't really matter. |

I am a non smoker and don’t meet smokers as meeting without kissing would be no fun.
I didn’t think I minded vapers but I met someone about 5 years ago who vaped.
What he hadn’t mentioned was that he vaped non stop for hours. I sent him home as the act of continuous vaping and the noise was a complete turn off. |

It’s always quite a divisive subject when it comes up on the forums. I do class it as smoking though.
What I do wish and I’ve said it before, is for fab to add the vaping option on profiles. That way people can make up their own mind |

Perhaps change the option to ‘users/consumers of nicotine derivative products’ eg: smoking/vaping |

I'm an ex smoker, who vapes. Also a cigar once or twice a year. Vaping is definitely not the same as smoking. My other half smokes.
I do think it would be good to have a vape option on profile, but I guess could just write it in bio. |

No, I think having that distinction between the two would be useful.

I agree.
The smell of smoke and another commonly smoked substance, are a huge turn off for me.
I don't mind vaping, as long as they're not doing it constantly.
It would be a helpful ootion to include. |

While they both contain nicotine, I wouldn’t class vaping as smoking. The smell and taste is completely different. Most of the complaints about smoking is the lingering smell etc which you don’t get with vaping |

From experience as a non smoker vaping theres a definate lingering smell amd taste, its a sickly sweet twang, i find it more off putting than nicotine taste/smell |

For me personally they are very similiar....
The look of smoking and vaping clouds isn't much different.
Both can leave a lingering smell on the person depending on what the vape is the person chooses to use.
Both leave an off-putting taste to a non smoker.
Sorry! |

I guess it comes down to the flavour they are vaping and the amount |

There does seem to be a strong predilection among vapers not to adopt the etiquette of smokers and indulge their habit far more extravagantly and intrusively, to the extent that I see it regularly on public transport.
And it's the people who stand next to you engulfed in clouds of sickly sweet vapour that I find particularly grating! |

I'm an ex smoker and I think somewhat unusual in that I don't mind the smell of smokers. I don't like that stale smell that you get smoking but it direct make me gag like the sickly chemical sweetness of a cloud of vape. The bug advantage of vape is the smell doesn't linger as badly.

Nicotine isn't the bad thing about smoking. It's colourless, odourless and in small quantities, harmless. Nicotine exists naturally in many foodstuffs, like tomatoes, aubergines etc. |
