So based off another thread about TV Chefs
When you cook and if you are following a recipe do you follow it exactly or do prefer to be creative and modify to your tastes.
I tinker with most recipes in one way or another unless its baking ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

My partner hates it because I love trying new recipes all the time but I'm very anal that I have to do everything as the recipe says first time until we taste it and see if we like it. If I make it a second time then I adapt it to meet us more but never before then!
Maybe I'm just a weirdo though ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

In the west. |
I will be making lasagne tonight. I have my own way of making it, although is there a set recipe for it.
It's a long thirsty job which will take at least 6 bottles before it is ready for the oven. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

They are very good. Why don’t you try the little honey doughnuts recipe I put in 'Favourite recipe' thread, delicious. "
Thanks I'll have a look ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I follow the recipe first time, if I have to swap something out for an alternative because I haven't got it, or don't like an ingredient then I will but mainly stick to the recipe.
Next time I might tweak it or add a side I think will work better. |

I'll get 4 or 5 recipes for the same meal and decide what the important ingredients and steps are from the ones they all have in common.
I'll then add whatever I like (and/or remove whatever I don't) to make it my own. |

If I'm cooking for guests I need to decide if the recipe calls for a dribble of piss or some man gravy as it depends on if it's baked or pan fried? Lol only kidding, I follow the recipe as a rule but usually do a guesstimate with things like herbs and spices sometimes adding one or leaving one out, usually because I don't have it and can't be arsed tho go to the shop XX |

1st time cooking I’ll follow a recipe, be that cooking or baking.
After that, it’s all about flare and experimentation with the recipe as a guide but 100% always go off piste for my own preference. |

I (Mr) love to cook.
Honestly, it's going to depend on the recipe. Some I follow to the letter, some I don't and some I make up on my own. Depends on who I'm cooking for or what the occasion is to be honest. |
