I wash and condition mine once a week or maybe twice if I’m going out. I don’t use a hairdryer I towel dry and leave it. I don’t use any producers either. My hair is shiny and naturally thick and heat and products make it frizzy, heavy and greasy. |

I riff off the curly girl method. I use a low poo most of the time, conditioner, hair oil or leave in conditioner (both is too heavy for me), plus gel if I'm styling it. I part air dry and part diffuse, and never use a regular towel on my hair |

A guy I work with went to Turkey and had one done. He was only in his mid thirties and his receding hairline really affected his mental health issues. It looks really good and you can’t tell at all. I think it was the kind that use stem cells. He’s so much happier in himself nowadays. |

Shampoo twice maybe three times a week, beard gets the full treatment couple times a week too. My beard gets better attention with regards to products then my head. |

Shampoo and treatment every time I wash it, I no longer use conditioner. I then use mythic oil and VO5 frizz control.
I was going to try Olaplex but it's too expensive.
Every six weeks I go to the salon for a trim and root tint.
I use a hairdryer, straighteners and a hot brush |

I shampoo and condition every day, sometimes twice a day. I use Alberto Balsam, more expensive stuff is to highly perfumed, to heavy etc.
I use an ordinary towel to give it a quick squeeze, then i comb it. It's shortish and curly. I then let it air dry. Sometimes i scrunch it up if a curly bit has gone wild. I occasionally use a light product to define the curls.
It is in fantastic condition, glossy, colour is great and smells clean and lovely.
I did read about the curly girl method but no way was i not going to wash it every day nor did i want to use lots of products etc. Stupidly i bought a special hair towel and brush ... waste of time and money. If anyone wants them feel free to ask ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I have it cut about every 5 to 8 weeks depending on how quickly it's growing.
I never use heat stuff on it.
I have a much loved hairdresser that cuts it perfectly and understands what i want and like ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I just had it cut last week first time since April last year...and had babylights/balayage. I wash it about twice a week and bought new straighteners as my last ones died. Found a really good heat protection spray which I love. So much easier to look after now its shorter. |

Aw bless you. Hopefully you’ll be able to get it sorted next year then. The guy I know used to used some stuff in a spray can. I never knew at the time and sat near him at work and I couldn’t tell his hair wasn’t natural. Obviously he didn’t want to carry on using it and I guess it must have felt different. Maybe you could look into doing that to tide you over? ![](/icons/rainbow.png) |

Wash one or twice a week, shampoo or lowpoo depending on what it's had in it previously. Two different conditioners, lots of scrunching etc in-between the washing process. Curl cream and a leave in then leave it to air dry. Never use a normal towel or heat on it. It could do with another chop though. |

Wash every other day. Add some stuff. Leave it to dry. Sometimes I half dry with a diffuser. It looks like a mess either way!
Get it cut when I can justify £50+ on myself (1-2 times a year). |

Hair mask first , then jump in the shower, rinse, put shampoo, hair message, purple conditioner for 10 mins, shampoo, rinse.
Then I’ll wait a bit to add some heat protector, blow dry, then GHD.
It takes me forever, so I wash it twice a week max as I’d be a sl4ve to my hair if I washed it every other day ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

Mine is very low maintenance. The only time I put heat on it is if I’m going out, so want it either straightened or curled. Otherwise it gets left to dry on its own.
It’s naturally long and wavy, so I can get away with an imperfect ‘bed head’ look. |

Wash mine in the shower every day. I use Aveda Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry vigorously, add a little squirt of Aveda smoothing serum, brush into shape and leave to air dry, usually. If it's wet when I get in the car, it's usually dry by the time I get to my daughter's school (10mins downhill by wheelchair ) |

Shampoo most days, condition the ends every other wash. Use a hair oil twice a week. Use a heat protection every time I use a hair dryer/straighteners. I use these around 3 times a week, Then a serum to keep hair smooth.
I have regular cuts as well.
And hair is regularly coloured |

Seeing as i have my hair dyed blood red i try not to wash it too much to keep the colour from fading too quickly. When i do wash it which is usually twice a week, i use a standard shampoo or shower gel to wash it through then rinse, then ill use a conditioner for coloured hair and leave it in for about 5-10 minutes before rinsing that out. Ive had a few compliments from girls saying i have i very healthy hair ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

There’s a lot of high maintenance going on here but little individual justification for it. All I want is glossy smooth hair as naturally as possible. Any ideas that work? |

"I don't understand not using shampoo? I have thick wavy hair. I shampoo it every other day. Is this wrong?"
It depends on your hair type and what shampoo you're using - some shampoo can be really harsh and strip your hair of its natural oils leaving it really dry and your scalp more prone to dandruff. It's a very individual thing so not wrong necessarily, it depends on how your hair responds. You can get paraben and sulfate free shampoo that's less harsh on your hair.
I know that if I shampoo my hair even a couple of times a week it becomes a knotty, dried birds nest and my scalp is sore. |

Wash twice a week, cool as I can handle water so it doesn't strip too much of the colour, hair mask once a week and let it dry naturally, unless I'm going out then a blast with cool air till almost dry, if I want curls I use the hairband technique as it uses no heat |

I no poo and haven’t used shampoo for about 4 years now. I follow the curly girl method and my hair has never been healthier.
I clean my scalp with a conditioner
Rinse it out
Lather my hair in a thicker conditioner, leave it in for 5 minutes
Comb it through with a wide tooth comb
Leave it for 5 minutes then rinse out.
Put some curl defining cream on whilst putting my hair where I want it then leave to dry naturally…no towel.
Once dry I scrunch it
Then I’m good to go! |

"There's no high maintenance on my hair. Mine is glossy and curly, in great condition.
How?"
I think it's because i use a decent shampoo and conditioner that aren't to heavy, cream types leave a greasy, heavy feeling to my hair which i hate. I wash it every day too which keeps my hair bouncy and fresh.
Also i don't use lots of different products, they also weigh down my hair.
I never use heat on it either.
It's in great condition and i get lots of compliments on it. |

I wouldn't say any of it is high maintenance, everyone's hair is different so it all depends on what works for your hair. I loosely follow the curly girl method and it works for my hair. It's knowing your hair type and a lot of trial and error most of the time. |
