In the west.

I'd report him to the police and make as many people around you, friends and family, aware of it so they can support you.

Get him reported to police and get a restraining order on him ASAP

Next Door

Keep a detailed diary of every event and contact the police.

Any message make sure its backed up.

Take pictures of any injury.

Video any face to face abuse.

If they go to your property, it may be worth installing and recording cctv

The diary could be used as evidence if it goes to court.

These might seem extreme but it is needed to get a conviction

I'm not sure what you're asking for here? Are you looking for legal advice on how to pursue damages against your ex or is it that he/she is still being violent with you?

If the former, I would suggest staying with citizens advice or a solicitor. If the latter then, as others have said, the police. No one should be allowed to assault others.

I hope this isn't the situation you're in and that you get it resolved ASAP.

Mr

Do you have to see your ex? Assuming it's a man (could be a woman)...

Don't put your in a situation where you have to see them. Get them out of your life if possible. Take pictures of injuries and make a police statement.

Bear in mind it's a long process between statement and conviction.

Don't go soft and don't back down on going through with court if necessary.

In the monkey house

Police for an criminal activity but they won’t do non mol/restraining orders. Google national centre for domestic violence. They can help with a non mol order that can be active within 24 hours.

This.

I kept blocking without recording anything such as screenshots and also changed phones at one point. Didn't keep any evidence as I thought he would eventually get bored and leave me alone. I regret it now.

Exactly this.

Definitely police.

Also women's aid/refuge are good for advice and there will be services local to you for support.

Still confused if this in the past or now. If in the past, why now. If recent or current, make sure you are safe, ask professional support and report to police as everyone said. All the best to you.
