Just had messages from the school's they're all shut tomorrow due to the incoming storms, trains are also cancelled in our area and apparently they are having a government meeting. Don't think we have had a red warning all stay in doors in our area, so we are expecting some pretty strong winds. Is this just south Wales or your areas also?

They have issued a cobra meeting and said its going to be the worst storm in 30 years apparently.

Yesterday, me and middle daughter went out to get our nails done. I was acting like it was gonna be the end of the world if we didn’t get home for the storm at 4pm

Aye, it was a bit windy but nothing like the uprooting of trees I’d been expecting

Haha I was the exact same! Had my daughter and her friend out and I was in a panic thinking we have to get her and us home before this kicks off, then nada. Tomorrow does look like a three pegger, as Windy Wilson would say, but I have plans I'm pretty determined to keep so we'll just see how it goes.

We've been told to WFH and all lessons to be online tomorrow. Mainly because they've already cancelled the TfW trains that bring some staff in and they anticipate further travel disruption. By sending it all online ahead of the event, lessons aren't cancelled AND people aren't put in danger by standing about at train stations or driving on motorways. We're used to it after COVID anyway (WFH/teaching online!)

You can't get on with life if you're dead due to a tree landing on your van, your train derailing or being blown over the prom and out to sea. If there's danger to life from the storm, it's best to reduce the number of people out and about at risk. The emergency services don't need to be putting themselves at risk to retrieve those who think they're invincible.

Winds up to 100mph combined with high spring tides, it’s going to be a wild one.

For anyone playing this down as “just a bit of wind”…. This is the sort of weather that will get you dragged out to sea or have trees land on you.

Unfortunately people are going to die

For anyone playing this down as “just a bit of wind”…. This is the sort of weather that will get you dragged out to sea or have trees land on you.

Unfortunately people are going to die

Yes we are in the red area from 7 in the morning.
