A 35 year old British Expat has become the first fatal shark death in Australia for 60 years.

When I heard the news this morning.... I was sure TOM would have been posting furiously ....

The deceased was an experienced swimmer and was training for a charity swim.

60 year's, you would have thought there's a lot more attacks than that happening considering the bad press shark's have.

Swimming with sharks could be one way to get legless I suppose.

If the swimmer had punched the shark in the mouth it might have been feeling a bit gob smacked.

At one stage the swimmer was probably feeling a bit foot loose.

Quite a jaw dropping experience for both the swimmer and the shark.

You don't just have to go swimming to come face to face with sharks, there's a few of them on internet dating sites.

When linda Lovelace was interviewed over her movie, "Deep Throat," her comment was, "If I'd known that it was going to cause this much of a sensation, I'd have called the film Jaws."

What do you call a shark that's been to the dentist?.... "Gums."

Ohhh...that's terribly sad for both the deceased and the shark. Both were simply going about their business and happened to cross paths. It spelt the swimmer's doom, shortly to be followed by the shark's, I suspect.

There have been shark nets around the waters in Sydney for 100 years and various other more modern deterrents. Apparently the numbers across Australian waters are not as high as you would expect and more people died last year from bee stings and donkey kicks than shark attacks.

In the middle

Apparently it hit him from beneath like they do when hunting seals, that impact alone would have killed him I would have thought, it was a shark doing what sharks do.

A terribly tragedy for the poor fella and for his loved ones

If sharks were really out to get us, there would be 1000s more I'm sure.

We find it strange to think we’re just food for many animals. No consideration for education, sex, age or style. Chomp. You’re mince .

I hope it was quick for him.

They’ve still not caught it and the beaches are opening again soon.
