Yup. Irish John at the allotment advised me on the benefits of a long handled fork. He lent me his. I soon broke it though, on the rock hard clay soil.

I filled the crack with mud and left it by his shed. Then I avoided him for a month in case he broke my legs!

This does sound like something I would do.

Also works with things like : emptying the bin (stuff more stuff in), dish washer (only take out what you need)..I'm a delight to live with

That’s the general rule in my work. Much like at home and quickly closing a cupboard door so nothing falls out. The next person can deal with it when they open it
