Celeb, politician, campaiagner etc - who do you have respect for?
Jack Monroe gets my vote. She's single-handedly helped millions of people by pushing Asda into reintroducing their value food range. Extraordinary woman! |

"Ricky Gervais.
I don't give a fuck what he says about people but he cares about animals so that's alright with me.
Quite a few people, for different reasons really. "
I like him too. He seems genuine on talk shows and when he talks about dogs - well, I'm sold. |

Quite a few people
Dame Helen Mirren for her style
Loads of public figures who carry out "good works"
Profs Alice Roberts and Mary Beard who are so knowledgeable yet accessible.
The people who run the local homeless person's charity and turn out in all weathers with hot food, clothes, medical and emotional help |

I think those that do most good in society we either don't know or don't hear about much. Those who give their time to support others in need, who promote and defend hunan rights, who look after/support the disabled, who do a lot of charitable work ... those are the ones I amore but as I said often not necessarily in the public eye. |

I hadn't seen that. Indigenous people have been walked over for so long in Australia. I haven't lived there for a long time but I haven't forgotten. Shameful. |

Me neither. I heard that closer to the time and, as another Aussie, it cut right to the bone.
Particularly as my auntie Priscilla (not real name) was born legally a human girl the same year that Stan Grant was born legally an animal |

John Caudwell. Yeah, I know there are some things you could joke about (his wife etc).
The work he's done and money donated to helping autism (yes, some of the early antivac alignment was dodgy as fuck but it's changed a lot), lyme disease and general philanthropy is inspiring. |

I was nearly a ruin and he raised funds to restore it. It was owned by the family of Johnny Dumfries the F1 driver. The furniture in it was priceless, Ming, Chippendale etc.
The estate now trains and employs a lot of local people. |

It is, and the grounds are fantastic and very family friendly.
It borders the grounds of Auchinleck House the home of James Boswell, reputed to be the first modern biographer, who was the biographer of Samuel Johnson. |

For someone who is anti royal in principle and hates tories with a vitriolic passion The Queen and John Major have my full admiration. If ever we needed dignity, diligence and quiet authority it is now.

I know what you mean about John Major. I don't like his politics, never have and never will. I do think he has principles though and the way he got torn into boris last week was great.
I doubt anyone will ever say that about he who should never have a capital letter at the start of his name. |

I recently found out that John Major blocked Boris Johnson from joining the Conservative party several times in the early 90s. Add that to standing up to Rupert Murdoch on principle knowing it would doubtless lose him the next general election, but doing so because it was right. Loads of other stuff too, but they top the pile. |

Lee Evans- I admire his decision to retire after losing his manager and deciding to focus on family.
Marcus Rashford-obvious reasons
Anna Whitehouse-her work on flexible working laws is amazing
Will & Kate- having met them I admire their dignity, hard work and people skills!
Dolly Parton- could easily be the first female music billionaire but unlike twats like Musk and Branson she uses her wealth to provide free books for children around the world instead of pissing competitions to get to space. A role model!

They've visited my old place of work, a couple of times. The last time I got to sit with a couple of service users (homeless community) and Kate who sat for ages. She had no airs and graces, was chatty and seemed genuinely interested in the experiences and views of others. Will has quite a dry sarcastic wit and I got the feeling he'd love to be humorous but feels he should be reserved. They're either amazing actors or genuine nice people!
I'm not a royalist but I admire their grace and dignity especially in the face scandals and criticism. |

They do a hell of a lot of charity work for female cancers too. There's a unit at Clatterbridge Hospital named after Marina after her selfless and never ending fundraising for them.
