Would it be true to say that once a man becomes a certain age of fab your no longer wanted

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

Maybe, maybe not.

I tend to think that when men become a certain age they tend to be less wanted by the women that *they* might want to be with …

So when I was 40 I might have been able to meet that hot 30 year old I like .. maybe not when I reach 50 or 60 though ..

Yes, this, definitely. It's more about adjusting your approach and mindset. 50 somethings are still incredibly hot but probably not to the nubile 21 something they're busy perving over.

No. It would be true to say that outside a certain age range it becomes more difficult to meet. That also applies to young men.

I'd say not as people may be unwanted for a myriad of reasons.

Age is just a number for both men and women - if you look good and put the effort in then you have a chance at any age, if you let yourself go and sit about doing nothing then nothing will come to you. In general though you will attract people of a similar age to you - that's human nature. You can be God's gift but if you're going after quines of 20 when your 50 you're going to get rejections!! It's all about being realistic - life is not one big porn film. While you think you're filming "Dave's anal adventures 3", everyone else would be reading it as "Pervy grandads anal abuse 3".

Haha, yes we do seem to rule them out completely - good old fashioned ageism. The 99 year olds are still bang up for it though, aren't you Mavis.

Its more likely that if the man was in demand before they reach a certain age they will continue to be in demand, and the same for those less in demand.

The older you are on here as a male . The less female choice . I just did a search . Females looking for my age . Note this my age or older . 12 within 40 miles. Yes open up search 18 -99 . Hundreds ? . But how many will actually respond to a message etc or just have filters wide open . Plus other preferences ?

In real life it really doesn’t matter! I’ve been a regular at rios for years, and one of my late friends was 86 years old and she still had sex with twenty somethings. It’s all in the mind and the attitude to life.

I could get away with putting something older as it would fit in with my aches and pains.

I've come across two guys lying about their age in order to have more opportunities. I guess I can kinda understand it but I'd rather people were honest. There are other ways to meet people than just messaging cold.

I know someone who had a fab age of 55 in 2018 when we were in a chatgroup but he admitted to the group he was really 58.

He had a new profile last year and he was suddenly 50 and is now 58 on his latest.

I had a social with someone who, when he walked in, I assumed had sent his dad with his apologies.

He had "shaved" a good 20 years off his age because he found it hard to meet women at his real age, and he'd used very old photos for consistency.

It was still a thanks but no thanks, but wasted both our times by doing it face to face.

I understand that some people on here aren't remotely concerned about age but I am, and I would prefer to make an informed decision on whether or not to meet.

It seems to be a magic number or a lot of people cut off their preference at 45.

I really questioned myself last time. Chatting to someone in his mid-50s but was actually in his 60s. He tried to persuade me that it made no difference...but it did. And the lying.

The only time age is an issue for me is when women below my lower age limit cheat to get around that filter.

I don't meet or even chat to anyone below that lower limit under any circumstances but some have used a couples profile, where their partner, if one actually existed was above the age filter.

I'm not sure if that glitch has been fixed by the site but it used to happen on a regular basis.

I have my age range set quite widely as it is, but if you have a range set then to my mind it's obviously important and is in place for a reason.

But yes, the lying is a deal breaker for me. If someone is lying over something so obvious, what else are they lying about?

No, that still happens. Only one half of a couple has to be in the age filters to get through

I have set a range based on getting on better with younger men in general. I was nearly persuaded by him, but ...I don't want to be with someone in their sixties. I felt guilty for that preference!

This is very true. I met someone who clearly lied about their age but even the age I think they really were was within my age limits so I continued but then other things they said started to not quite add up and it is off putting. I think the final straw was catching him using a fake picture as his kik profile picture that clearly wasn't him.

That really exists! Well in my head as well.

I've met many men (well you know, only a handful because I'm innocent and a prude) and a fair few of them have admitted to altering their age. I'm not talking about a year. Nor two. More between five and ten years. Yet in my mind their natural age falls within that optimum range so I don't see the point.

I've said it numerous times on here but I will never meet or even chat to anyone within 10 years of my eldest child. I don't adjust my lower age filter in line with my own age but with theirs.

Age isn't a number, it's a fact. You cannot change the age you actually are no matter how hard you try. You don't have to act that age if you don't want to and you may not look that age but the fact remains you are the age you are.

I find that as I have aged the only thing that has changed my attractiveness is me.

I let myself go and that made me feel and appear less.

I have now sorted my shit out and am back on here. I have had reasonable "success" and am also mixing well with those on the fora and outside.

I also...being over 50, having financial security, never been married and no kids...am also finding ladies are expressing interest and asking me out

Back when I was young and good looking (by my current standards) I had no idea how the world worked.

So, age is not a block.

"

I wouldn't feel comfortable being with someone at my daughters age, but it seems you get to 50 and it's as if you're dead "

But what if you didn't actually know their age?

I think about it like this ...

Would you be happy if they seemed 20 years older than your daughter?

Then what about 15? 14? 10? 5? Where do you actually draw the line?

After you've drawn the line, does it move as both you and your daughter get older?

And then what if the person is just slightly below your set line but seems about 5 years above it?

"It's not just a number. It's a preference.

But for some people, the number they've reached doesn't match how they look.

Unless they told you, you wouldn't correctly guess they're age.

The preference is for how they look and act, not for their age, surely?

? I've got to 50. I woke up at 50. I think it's an attitude as much as anything. I talk to plenty of guys in their fifties who are definitely enjoying themselves.

I'm quite happy getting to that age, but, a lot of people's filters stop at 50."

So it's slightly fewer women - that's not a huge deal is it? At clubs and socials, I don't think people ask age. On the forums I often chat to those outside my age limits.

No, not an issue. I do like a club meet though

I think people's preferences can be for age. I may come across a very mature 35 year old but I wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping with him. We've all got limits.

"Age is just a number.

I see this all the time and I disagree. It's not just a number for lots of people. They maybe don't want to be with someone a similar age to their kids or their parents. Maybe they only tend to fancy older men because of good experiences. It's not just a number. It's a preference.

What if they were gorgeous, intelligent , and 1 week outside your range ? You’d send them away ?

"

Yes and I have done. The other thing I've noticed is that when women and couples have a similar preference no one ever ever challenges that.

There is an assumption that men don't really mean it.

I don't understand why anyone does it, but there are other posters here who take it very seriously, so I guess I'm in the minority.

If I look at a profile, and I'm out of age range, even if they allow messages, I rarely send one, as I presume that's a boundary not to be crossed.

Yes and I'm one of those who takes it very seriously. As I've said on other threads I didn't join this site until I was 52 and have not even the slightest interest in anyone who is young enough to be my daughter. I've also no interest in people who are vastly more experienced than I am. Like most on here I have preferences and mine are to chat to and possibly meet those who are not only on a similar path but are at a similar place on that path.

I've never adjusted my upper age limit since joining because I've never been with a woman older than me at any stage in my life so it seems a little pointless changing it now.
