What's the difference between these apps?

Kik is chock full of bots and adverts. Used to be okay but is now drowning under a sea of crap.
Whatsapp is good for one to one communication with friends, or group chats with people that you trust with your phone number.
Telegram seems okay but none of the people you want to talk to will be using it unless they're phone nerds.
My personal favourite is to sit side by side with someone nice and just talk using voices... |

We've tried that in the past and it worked quite well |

Pretty much as said above.
Kik is username based, no phone number. It is glitchy to say the least. Crashes. Terrible. It's got worse since they launched the 'live' function. But it is anonymous. I don't like that you can't make someone a contact and give them a nickname. People never seem to use the name they use elsewhere so it gets confusing if you have a lot of 'friends.
WhatsApp is phone-number based. Allows video and voice calls. But you do have to share your number. You can create a contact on here and name someone as you wish.
Telegram uses a username, email address or phone number but you can block the latter. Also has video or voice calls. I'm fairly new to Telegram (since growing to dislike Kik) but I'd liken it to a cross between WhatsApp and Skype. |

Kik is implicated in almost every criminal sexual activity investigation into nasty stuff. It’s the app of choice because you need zero verification not even email, it’s a hive of villainy. It had 1 good point, in that it told you how many days anyone has been a member for, so you could avoid anyone ‘new’ but it’s just a horrible place now and in my opinion best avoided. |

Or for people who think its a bad idea sharing the phone number that they use for work and is therefore both searchable and connected to their employer with strangers they chatted to during their search for sexual partners. |

I've never had a problem using kik.
Yes, it's a bit glitchy now that faceache took it over but that's about it.
I've got telegram but no one uses it so its pointless.
Discretion is of the upmost importance regardless if you have anything to hide or not. So if you wouldn't tell your family and work colleagues that you use fab swingers, then I'd suggest that you are looking for discretion. |

"I often get a reply from individuals, do you have 'kik'!? I mean I'm I a few social apps on my mobile, but what's the difference between 'kik' and something like 'WhatsApp'? "
KIK is now full of bots and adverts making it almost unbearable. It also deletes old messages forever like FAB does. Unistall it and all your messages are lost. Keeps your phone number out of it though.
Whatsapp keeps ALL messages and media in backup files or folders so can be accessed easily or restored if needs be on another mobile. No pathetic messages from random girls wanting money like damn KIK !. Great for trusted friends (as an upgrade from FAB or KIK) |

It makes me laugh that people choose KIK for anonymity, because you don’t use your phone number to sign up, and that’s apparently safer. Yet, the whole app is insecure, doesn’t use end-to-end encryption, and the data in your messages is sold on to the highest bidder. You may as well be having a conversation in the local newspaper. |

My preference for security is wickr. Full anonymity in account creation, no links to big tech accounts, messages burned after 5 days or less if you set it to, full end to end encryption, it even notifies you if the other person tries to screen grab. |

That’s only an issue if you are sharing a certain type of messages. If it’s just plain chat and it’s under a username not linked to you then it doesn’t matter. I would still opt for an app that doesn’t use my phone number. |

Is anything connected to Facebook 'anonymous'? |
