"Yes or no"

Yes just don't let society dictate how much money you need to spend to show your love for the other person. A homemade meal and a romantic film can be a lot more romantic than having dinner in a posh restaurant. For example this year we have chosen to go to an American BBQ restaurant.

100% yes, why not. 7 weeks after Christmas so a great time to make an effort.

"Yes or no"

No x 1000.

Theres another thread on the forum today titled "Eating Ass" and I think that would be more desirable than Valentines day. Wiped or not.

No why tell/show someone you love them for one day, it should be shown all the time. Little things a partner does/says means just as much as flowers and chocolates for a day. Not every one can afford hiked prices.

I take it that we are talking about Saint Valentine's Day, lest anyone forget that it took his name long before the shops muscled in on the act.

We understand the comment about the stupid prices and all the advertising that is on to make you spend money. But just because we celebrate Valentine's day doesn't mean we don't show our love the rest of the days. Is not different from other holidays, is just an excuse to celebrate something worth celebrating.

Is that not what anniversaries are for?

Exactly this, we don't celebrate, we don't need to show we love each other on a certain day.

No. It's too commercialised and hyped up. It means so much more if for instance I was bought flowers on a different day because my husband wanted to rather than he felt he should buy me them just because it's Valentine's Day.

We also celebrate the anniversaries... We are far from having tons of money but we always find a away to make the other smile with a gift or gesture that marks an especial date and makes you feel special. When we move to the UK we gave each other kinder eggs/bueno...

We also give gifts, gestures, etc on random dates. Just because we celebrate our anniversary together, Valentine's day, each other anniversary, Christmas, so on, doesn't mean we only do it on such dates.
