I've never liked Valentines Day. The concept always made me cringe, even when I was in relationships or married.
It always seemed to be just an excuse for shopkeepers, restaurants and hotels to make money and for those stuck in relationships to "get some" similar to the anniversary and birthday obligation.
Does this make me emotionally void? Or do others feel the same about it? |

Look at how many posts are started with similar views. How frequently at this time of year people are Anti it. I don't think it's that rare or unique OP. Nor does it make you emotionally void. |

I definitely feel the same about restaurants and shops. I don't like the commercialisation or the pressure it can put on people. I've never enjoyed going to a restaurant for it as its always packed, usually a reduced menu and you often feel rushed out as they've so tightly booked their reservations. I personally just like to use it as an excuse to have a romantic night in together and tell each other how much we appreciate each other. |

I don't get it either. We tell and show each other we love each other every day of the year, not just one. Commercialised nonsense made to make a fortune off us |

Only if you pay into it.
It dosnt have to be expensive if you dont want it to be.
Nothing wrong in making items wether a card or 2 wooden hearts.
So many forget toys was made out of wood, The joy that many got was worth the making of them. |

We don't do valentine's here. I'd much rather buy a steak in a month and give him a blow job!
We tell each other every day we love each other so don't need to spend money doing so, just for the Facebook picture.

I'm with you. I find it one of the most unromantic things there is. Every day is a good day to show your person how much you love them |

It's funny on Facebook. All the saddo couples scrabbling to display all the shite they did for each other. A competition with bullshit ooohs and ahhhhs in the comments. |

I think it's a day when you should do what you know will please your partner. If they enjoy or expect a nice valentine card then why not as long as your love is expressed at any time not just on Valentine's day. If you both don't worry about that stuff, also good. Some people like those little symbolisms, others couldn't care less. Each to their own. |
