Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I am struggling to get some films on my Lovefilm list so am asking you, dear Fabsters, for your top 3 films out of recent releases (say in the last 5 years).

My likes are Sci-Fi (though not interested in Prometheus), Action, Foreign Language films, History.

And to get y'all started, my top 3 are:

1. Brave

2. Clash of the Titans

3. Avatar

If you like hardcore action then I would recommend The Raid redemption (released in 2011)- It's a foreign film but you can get the subtitles. Trust me it has really good non-stop action scenes.

Hiya, I have a few that I have enjoyed in order of my most favourite this year:

1) Seeking a friend for the end of the world (sci-fi romance apocalypse)

2) That's My Boy (crude rude comedy)

3) Dredd (Judge Dredd 'nuff said lol)

Hope you enjoy our choices if you look at them!

Looper is an amazing scifi film, though it won't be on DVD till the new year most likely.

A good selection would be Chris Nolan's films.

Inception

The prestige (amazing!!)

Memento (sublime filmmaking)

Also a film I love.. Stranger than Fiction. Stars will Ferrell, but isn't a "Will Ferrell" comedy. Bit sci fi, bit existential drama. Love it

Well as you've got Clash of the Titans, I put Wrath of... on there too.

When Looper hits DVD get that, best sci-fi film I've seen in a long while.

Star Wars IV-VI - while we're talking about sci-fi!

For action, any 007 film, Man on Fire, the Bourne films and the Hurt Locker.

Foreign language, Old boy, the Seventh seal and the Infernal Affairs films(what The Departed was based on).

History, Zulu, Downfall and Rob Roy (better than Braveheart)

That should keep you going for now!

Not many of them out in the last 5 years hun.

Wrath of the Titqans not available to rent until December (sometimes the studios hold them back for renting. Bastards!)

But it looks like Looper and Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter are to go on the list.

if you are a fan of Waalace & Gromit (well, the makers; Aardman) then The Pirates! in adventure with scientists is a good laugh - and defo deserves the PG rating the yanks gave it rather than the U the BBFC gave it over here

Grrrr! The only reason I joined was to check out films before I buy them and it doesn't help when I have to wait 3 months to do that.
