Twitter porn ban

Wondering how Twitter will cope with the new impending porn ban forcing them to fall in line with all the other major social network sites that have already banned it?

I think reddit will struggle too, I heard the other day that the internet is something like 85% porn!

Quite easily.

It is UK only. VPN will fix that right up. Problem solved.

To quote Dr Cox from Scrubs

"If they took all the porn off the internet, there would be one site left and it would be called bringbacktheporn.com"

Don't you think the Gov won't have thought of that? The main reason it was all shelved back in 2016. Guessing this time they will going after the ISP providers with massive fines

They are fining the sites themselves that don't provide age checks for UK users. Not the ISP.

A VPN completely negates that. Short of going full on China levels of censorship there is not a lot the UK government can truely do to prevent this.

This is essentially their last chance to make it work without crossing a line. Which of course they are doing already. But the line after the one they just crossed.

This is like the 5th time they have attempted to do this over the past few years.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

If it plays out. It seems to have gone lots of nowhere so far.

I think Tumblr, there were American legal issues involved. Whether they'd do that for the UK is another question.

Probably more likely that they'd respond like they did for the Australian attempt to alter sharing of media - just restrict Australian/UK access

Central

Aren't they not banning porn on it, just making the pretence that inappropriate people won't be able to experience it?

As all Internet services in the UK have adult site restrictions as standard, why oh why isn't it left to parents and guardians to only provide internet that's age appropriate for those in their care!

Because the government must be seen to be Doing Something when it suits them to grandstand.

When they don't give a shit, it's personal responsibility.
