Back, legs, joints, trapped nerves etc Anyone else suffer and find it affects your sex life?
Do you dose up on painkillers and carry on or find better positions that make things easier? Has it stopped you swinging from the chandeliers as much as you'd like? |

I have a chronic pain condition, it's one if the reasons I'm not really meeting much at the moment. In that past yes, dose up with painkillers and just go for it and deal with the consequences the next day. But my condition was worsened and right now gentle sex in missionary or prone bone is about the best I can do, and quickies only. It's horrible, but I'm being examined for treatment other than medication to hopefully remove some of the root cause. Then I plan to make the most of life (if it works).
Good luck with your issues OP, spending you life in pain is the worst fate. Xx |

I used to suffer with chronic pelvic pain. I had sex maybe once a month and took codeine for 1.5-2years. But when I did have sex I'd plan it where I could have the next few days on r&r. It was a nightmare, I know sex isn't the be all and end all of a relationship although some might say differently but I felt bad Mr had to do it when I wanted and not when he was feeling like it (with consent of course). But it's like he had to wait for a bus that very rarely came! Pun not intended
I sought help and had an operation that helped dramatically, thankfully. I don't have to plan sex around pain anymore thank god. |

Yes, I have a chronic condition that can make things tricky sometimes! New meds help, but find it very frustrating sometimes not being able to do exactly what I want in the bedroom - or wherever! X |

I take extra pain killers about half an hour before having a fun, then usually takes me a day or so to recover!
I have chronic pain and fatigue, dodgy disc in my back.
Switching up positions always helps and not being "thrown" round the bedroom lol |

"Mine isn't chronic, so when I'm in pain I just nope out of sex. Can't imagine what I'd do if it were and I couldn't find a work around."
Most of the time I can work round it but every now and then it puts me out of action completely or interrupts during which I think is worse. |

I haven't been having sex but previously I just up the painkillers when I'm meeting someone. Heat pads help a lot too. Don't underestimate the impact pain has on your mood or energy levels either - when I have an ok day I shocked at how positive and energetic I feel. |

Sciatica is awful. It will settle again as the nerve gradually untraps itself. I had mine released by the osteopath yesterday so it's not as bad but still got twinges if I move the wrong way. |

I thought i had sciatica, but the pain got worse and worse to the point i was on all fours and then was having trouble cotrolling my bladder, gp sent me to A and E where they did an MRI scan and determined i was suffering from cordia equina syndrome brought on by herniated disc, they operated on me same day..still in recovery.
Nerve pain is the worst pain ever..
Left leg and sole of my foot now has loss of sensation and since the oppo it can take me a while to get hard sometimes.. |

Fingers crossed those symptoms gradually clear. Cauda Equina compression requires immediate surgery to avoiding lasting permanent damage. It can sometimes be tricky to identify in time unfortunately. |

Yeah I have chronic pain due to nerve injury, sciatica, SI joint and pubis symphisis joint pain. If it's really bad then I don't have sex. Painkillers don't make any difference really so I don't take any, I just put up with it. On an average day, I can have sex in certain positions but need an understanding and sympathetic partner. We're pretty much just keeping things between ourselves for now (and Mr KC is both understanding and sympathetic ) |

I get pain in the SI joint and it travels along the iliac crest on one side. Genuinely makes me feel like hammering nails into the back of my pelvis or something which I know sounds crazy. So sympathy hugs! |

I suffer from acute arthritis in both knees, I find that paracetamol is of no benefit in reducing the pain but Ibuprofin works wonders, However, I am not supposed to take Ibuprofin as it is not compatable with the medication I am taking for my heart condition (Atrial Fibrillation). I also suffer from erectile dysfunction but cannot take Viagra again because it clashes with the heart meds.
Sadly I can see no light at the end of the tunnel so have put any sex aspirations on hold for the forseeable future.

Endo is such a misinterpreted disease. Everyone thinks it's just a bad period. Even Dr's. I've had to educate them (Yes I know they don't know everything but still, you'd thought when I mentioned it they might have gone away and had a little read of it) |

I struggle with pain in my hips and inside leg/pelvis but that’s down to having my legs open for long periods of time! When it gets really bad we have to switch positions so I can have my legs together for a while.

I've never tried acupuncture, but I find mindfulness helpful in coping with pain, if that makes sense (I get acute episodes rather than anything chronic). I don't think it actually reduces it, but I'm able to redirect my mind. |

I think they say the same about a tens machine - it's more of a distraction than reducing the pain. I have chronic rather than acute but mindfulness has been useful for anxiety to be fair. I would probably benefit. I use heat pads every day (microwave ones and stick on) - very soothing. |

I’ve never tried a thai massage but I need to shell out for a decent sports massage I think. My body is beaten up a bit from years of abuse lol. I did have low back pain but got a back stretcher and that sorted that out ..dropped arch aswell, dodgy knee. Knackered shoulder

No they had a self referral thing at the doctors for physio but the wait was forever. The main issue is tightness in my traps and neck which is causing the nerve issue. Stress probably doesn’t help either . It causes bad headaches |

years ago I was working abroad and went to, what i was told, the local physio for knee problem. She had a room in the local hotel so i was a bit suspicious of what services were being offered. Inside it was kitted out more like a dentist office. Anyway the therapist proceeded to wheel out a car battery on a surgical trolley and electricuted me with it !
didn't work. |

I have sciatic nerve damage but day to day I am fine until it “pings” and then I’m in agony until it rights itself again, which can take a few weeks. I usually take codeine based pain killers or, if really bad, I have to see my Chiropractor (who has used acupuncture) and I use a walking stick as I’m unable to fully straighten.
I’ve made the mistake of meeting during an episode only once. The back spasms just aren’t worth it!!

I've personally never found physio very useful but the osteopath helped massively. It's a long term ongoing thing but it definitely makes a difference. I went private though, not sure it's available on the NHS. I can sympathise with the headaches |

I didn't know it was painful. So far my pain management clinic have promised that (then cancelled), and osteo (cancelled) and now steroid injections. Which presumably are also painful. I think I'd try anything at this point to be fully mobile again. |
