Really, really wish the public would learn how fundraising works. FYI I don’t believe she should have been funnelling money into her own pocket but the public were mad even before that part came out.
Fundraising costs money.
I’m a digital fundraising manager btw for example I may have a client who spends let’s say 150k a year on fundraising activities but that activity generates 450k in revenue. People will get mad about spending 150k but ignore the 3x ROI |

I have a friend who is a consultant who works with charities, they work hard, get paid well and help bring in a lot of money
But in this case, we all thought the money would quickly and openly be distributed by the trustees |

"It seems more was paid to management than was paid to charity "
That's very common where charities have permanent, salaried staff. They don't run themselves. |

I’m not surprised they haven’t allocated it all as pretty much all charities keep substantial reserves (which is why so many managed to weather the pandemic) but the fact she’s been paying herself and hubby while being trustees is very dodgy. I know the fundraising regulator is looking into them as they broke regulations around fundraising. |

But she didn't have to generate new income, no advertising spend required seeing as it was left right and centre on all news outlets, no direct debits to manage |

"I generally only give to small local charities rather than big national ones.
They are very often run by volunteers and the money tends to end up where you expect it too. "

I don't give my money, but I do give my time to charity. It's more rewarding, plus it's harder for some skanky bastard to slip it in their pocket to buy their new McMansion. |
