Breaking my forum post duck, but found myself reminiscing today about a meet from my first stint on here a few years back.
After lots of chat, had what was undoubtedly a great social with someone who may well have been my perfect woman: clever, great company, downright gorgeous. We got on really well, just the right side of flirty (I thought), the cocktails flowed and had a cheeky snog or two. But then went our separate ways.
Sadly, there never was a 2nd meet as she said afterwards that it felt "too much like a date" which wasn't what she wanted. Her choice of course (and I hasten to add there were no harassing emails asking her to explain!) But did I play it wrong? Or miss an opportunity to make it clearer I wanted more? Or perhaps she was she just letting me down gently?
Will never know, and not an issue now, but look back on it as can't my biggest missed Fab opportunity! So, anyone else got a "one that got away"??
(P.S. thanks for bearing with the epic post. I'm fully prepared for the tl:dr replies!) |

There could be so many reasons! She may have been undecided as to what she was looking for? Who knows..
I tend to keep socials short, a nice coffee.. but no food etc.. just enough time to get the gist of someone but short enough to leave us both (hopefully) wanting more.

"Oh. I forgot to answer the question… There’s been plenty that got away. I must learn to do better knotwork. "
Quite - no excuses for sloppy knotwork!
And I absolutely agree that sometimes a social is the end - no sense of entitlement here! I just caught myself in a wistful moment as I wandered past the bar we'd had drinks in... |
