My daughter makes delicious vegan brownies using the liquid from a tin of chickpeas instead of egg (aquafava). Then you can use the chickpeas to make a vegan curry or add to a salad and sprinkle with pomegranate seeds. |

"I am making dinner for a friend who is vegan but stuck as to what to make as never done it before. Any suggestions for a nice 3 course meal and wine will be much appreciated."
Firstly - when choosing wine check first if your guest will drink any wine, or vegan only. There are animal ingredients used to filter and refine impurities from wine. Many supermarkets stock vegan wine - Aldi and Lidl do a range. |

Have you decided what to cook yet ?
Personally I don't like the taste of meat so I don't enjoy substitutes which replicate the taste of bacon, chicken, sausage etc so I think it might be safer to cook your guest vegetables. |

"Thank you to all of you who posted useful replies here and in pms. It's new to me but hopefully it will all be great. "
Best practice your dishes first, don't want your guest to be a crash test pilot.
Hope it goes well.
Bon appetite.

"How about a Middle Eastern mezze with hummus, baba ganoush, olives, falafel, tzatziki etc"
*drools* my favourite kind of food! Tzatziki has yoghurt in it though. You could make your own with soy yoghurt though. |

"Google ‘Mob Kitchen teriyaki tofu’……you won’t regret it, it’s delicious!
I did and it sounds amazing! Plus 'sticky icky' is a sweet little extra "
It works best with extra firm tofu, IMO. I’m not vegan in the slightest, but I love this dish. |

I love doing that sort of thing for my veggie mates.
I also like to do a veg and bean tagine with spiced couscous, always goes down well. |

"All the wine sold in Spar is vegan. "
All *spar brand wines* are vegan, not necessarily all the wines they sell (it was a confusing statement when they released it) |

There is no such thing as vegan food.
Just leave the animal off.
The internet has MILLIONS of tasty recipes for everyone that just so happens to be vegan cos it has no dead beings in it....... or dairy. |

There are so many tasty dishes that can be produced using vegetables and plants, I really don’t see the need to pulverise the bloody things and create fake chicken or burgers or whatever. It’s not meat, why pretend that it is? Why not just enjoy veg and plant products instead of pretending that it’s a chicken nugget? |

Up until that point, the menu had a beautiful simplicity. It was all set for its appearance on the Great British Menu under the name “I have a cunning plan”, served in a pair of tramps trousers |

Because if they can make it taste like meat by doing that is a good thing? |

Why is that a good thing?
Why not enjoy veg and plant products as veg and plants? Broaden people’s food horizons by getting then to eat different vegetables rather than lowest common denominator fake chicken nuggets? |

Correct.
I'm not particularly bothered about meat replacements that said when I can't be bothered to cook I do enjoy a no-chicken Kiev, personal favourites are by M&S and the Co-Op. |

If I’m having something instead of a burger I prefer to have something like a spicy veg bean burger than fake beef
Each to their own though! |

It’s not just a name though. Huge amounts of research have gone into making veg products taste like poor quality meat. |

Just tell them grass feed beef is much better for literally every living organism in the field rather than soyabean or avocados and give them steak. |
