Membership fees rising?
Jump to: Newest in thread
With everything getting more expensive, do you think your fab membership is good value for money? Do you think it will rise in price? Do you think all user's should pay the fee? Do you think existing fee payer's should pay the extra cost for others to remain here for free? Do you think by making everyone pay would stop people from getting numerous amounts of fake accounts set up? |

Yeah personally I think everyone should pay, it should sift out the fakes and save the embarrasment of curious people having a look and seeing someone they might know. |

I don't think people should have to pay to join I think it's fine as it is. It won't stop the fakes anyhow but it will stop genuine people from joining if they have to pay straight away. I certainly wouldn't have joined if I had to pay.
I am a site supporter now and I don't see it as paying to help keep that choose not to. I see it as being able to use the extra functions like notes etc.
I don't see why the price should go up in future and I'm sure that by keeping it at the level they do it ensures more people pay to be a site supporter. |

No I don’t think everyone should have to pay to join. Myself and I’m sure many others wouldn’t have joined if you had to pay.
It might stop a few fakes but it wouldn’t stop them all, you’d still get fake profiles. |

Honestly after buying it a few times I have zero idea what it offers
I’m without it and I’ve noticed no difference in terms of my use of the site
I know it offers some small features like who looked at me, but as a single guy I found none of them useful and the idea of it useless |

In terms of making people pay, you might get rid of a lot of the “undesirables” but you’ll have many desirables that just move onto one of the many free apps available that basically offer the same thing.
And there’s still gonna be plenty of guys paying a monthly fee to send you a dick pic and “hey how’s u” |

I think it's great value and I wouldn't like to pay much more to be here.
I don't think making everyone pay a fiver would stop fake accounts or solve any negative issues |

It’s good vaule if you use the the stuff for me the extra pics is worth it
Make everyone pay wouldn’t stop the fakes at all or in less you rased the price to like £100-200 a month
£5-10-15 isn’t much for someone to get kicks out off being fake
Also would make them harder to spot as some would presume that everyone is real because they payed
The only real way to stop them
Is for fab to have decided staff on bord
When a new profile is carted they get put in to a 24 hour holding zone they have 24 hours to upload a photo verification pic
If not profile is deleted while in this holding zone they can’t use the site they will stay in this holding zone for up to another 48 hours
Giveing someone from the dedcted team
To run background check on phone
Cross check it with image search
Run it though a photo shop agrithum that can tell if the pics been photo shopped at all
Ones they passed all that
They aren’t allowed to send messages first for a month on a trail period they can message but only if another member message first
Only why to stop fakes it to make them jump though so meny hoops it’s just not worth it |

Do you think it will rise in price? ...Don't know

Do you think existing fee payer's should pay the extra cost for others to remain here for free? ...No
Do you think by making everyone pay would stop people from getting numerous amounts of fake accounts set up? ...No. It would just make people even more entitled as they would be demanding the sex they 'paid for' |

"The only good thing about being a site supporter is being able to see the message chat. Apart from that it really doesn't offer much else unless you like posting loads of pics, videos etc."
But I like chatting so I'm happy to pay. |

I think the model is spot on and not sure whether there is a business justification for the owners to raise or cut their prices. Only they will know.
In my opinion, the current price point is reasonable enough to make the transactional business approach stable. You start increasing prices then it’s possible it’s going to impact this and then the VFM is going to have to be improved. There are other sites that are more expensive, and also have some good features and benefits, which deliver value. Fab have got a good market.
The free to join with the option to pay for additional features, is a subscription model (SaaS) that’s been around for quite a while and is getting more and more popular to onboard customers.
Typically with the SaaS model, it’s about economies of scale, so the more onboarded, the cheaper the service gets (or should get). So I would look at it more that we aren’t paying for the free users, but the model is keeping the price static, as it’s been for years and years.
Paying is going to remove some some of the low level fakes without a doubt, but it’s not going to eliminate them completely. The price point may attract (and does now) a certain type of fake account and perhaps people with intentions we may not approve of. Yet, this is no different to a site with higher fees. So regardless of free to average to expensive, you have to be savvy.
The one point made that is very interesting is that free does mean that someone could join and have a nose and see if they can spot someone they know, for whatever reason.
With that, you then have to decide do you value your privacy enough to think you need to go to a site that is more expensive and perhaps more secure?
How secure fab is, I don’t know, but there are some configurations that you can enable to prevent new joiners from accessing your account for example.
So maybe an idea would be to have some enhanced security features and have fab lock down everything from registration the have a wizard (or a wizard option) to go through configuration with some explanations to ensure people have the right amount of exposure vs privacy that they’re comfortable with. And if not, then they can make a decision. That would be worth paying (or paying extra) for IMHO.
Not exactly part of the initial question, but additional security and privacy at a cost or higher cost, would be where I see value. |

I/we used to have 3 memberships
My solo female, my husbands solo male & our couples, but we stopped renewing them about a year ago as we didn't notice whichever features we lost
I do however think there should be a charge for fab & it should be compulsory & more than the £5 currently charged as I think it will limit the amount of picture collectors & fantasists on here
But I guess the owners don't want to go down the route as a compulsory charge/increased cost would lead to calls for a better site etc & it seems to be if it's not broke don't fix it kind of thing to me |

I think pay to fix the issue with low effort users is a bigger change than what’s needed to fix the issue
I’d just introduce a pretty strict messaging limit that improves with each level of verification
New account with no pictures or verifications or anything? Limited to 1 new message a day (replies to current conversations don’t count)
Add a picture? Message limit goes up. Maybe make it so that if it’s a face picture that limit goes up even more then just body pics
Get verified? Message limit goes up.
Verified by another user? Keeps going up
Make it so actually engaging in the site for real let’s you engage more.
I often see people complain about fakes on here, and they are a problem. But I feel the bigger problem is the high number of just low effort profiles. No pictures, no bio, spamming “hey how’s u” to every profile within 50 miles of them. I don’t think a £5 entry barrier will deter those people. But making them have to actually engage with the site might |

I like the idea of the gamification approach. Different badges for how much effort/engagement, which in turn can give you the decision with who you want to converse with.
Though these type of features will mean development costs, which need to be absorbed or passed on.
Nice idea though. |

Personally I wouldn't mind paying more for better security and more features. Think with the cost of living increasing daily some people may struggle to pay the fees they already do. Can the site continue to run if maybe half stopped paying? I think they would then increase the existing fees to make up for the shortfall? |

I believe there’s a revenue stream from advertising, which as a paid member we don’t see.
But if half stopped paying, does your question mean the other half pay double? I think that would be business suicide. I’d hazard a guess that fab is run like a little cash cow. |

I always have trouble trying to follow the 'fake' argument. I think a perve / fake will pay a fiver to use the site and some so called genuine people will continue to let you down.
It's the person that counts. Not if they can afford the gentelmen's club fees.

Before I took a break from here I was a paying member.
This time around I'm not and to be honest I'm not seeing the benefits of silver or gold membership fees, bar I suspose I can't see who perved me, but also saying that I'm mainly back for the forums and old friends, so maybe I don't need all the bells and Whistles. |

"I'd happily pay more if they spent some money implementing new features to make the site more functional. " vecareful what you wish for on that 1,
(new features wise)
I along with a few others here were on another site (irish 1) and it was great Craic, but they tried updating it and went international and they killed it off within 6 months,
If it ain't broken, don't try fix it, as the old saying goes. |

I guess the argument around fakes is that they may well have multiple fake accounts or they may just set up a new one when they’ve been discovered as fake and banned. And £5 a month each time might put ‘some’ off.

Higher fees won't stop the fakes. If they did then there wouldn't be so many people complaining about all the fakes on other sites that do charge more.
Not only would higher fees increase the level of expectation among those who would demand a return on their investment but it would also raise the level of entitlement among those who believe the site should be more elitist.
It's obvious that so many already feel that the site is beneath them but for some unknown reason they are still here. |
