Hi folks,
I have been a fan of The Apprentice for a good few years….. yeah yeah yeah, I’m sure I will get told off as to how cheesy etc this is… but had been quite good over the years.
I can’t however think how rubbish this years crop of contestants are … they really have no clue whatsoever!!! Just watched this last weeks episode where they couldn’t even spell Arctic right … and thought Penguins were at the North Pole - wtf!!
If this is the future of British business brains … I do worry!!
I do however love looking at how the ladies dress and love some of their styles xx

Me too, they look amazing, I definitely couldn't look like that if I was given 30 mins for the cars to collect me! |

I watch it on catch up. What I don’t get about the new formula is, if Alan doesn’t want to invest in their business it doesn’t matter how well they do in the process so I’m thinking it’s fixed from the offset.
Irrespective I still enjoy watching it but they do some breathtakingly dumb things. However when you consider how little time they have to perfect things that they have no experience in, I think some of them do really well. I just enjoy it at face value and don’t even care what their business is.
Re the ladies styles, I can’t believe they get a call at daft o’clock in the morning saying the cars will the there to pick you up in half an hour and they all manage to make it! I’d be still sat in my pjs drinking my tea as the door slams behind them! |

A few years ago I applied to be on it and passed the 3 interviews. When I was sent all the contracts it was crazy. Between 4 - 7 weeks staying in London and only allowed 1 20min phone call home each week and some stupid rules.
There all paid to be there but not much. |

What kind of a retainer / payment are they on ? If you make a fool of yourself on this it would be hard to get a job again.
I thought that the girl who was fired last week over the Arctic spelling had great potential in the process, fired the wrong person I think |

I love the apprentice but the last few seasons I do wonder where they get some of the contestants from are they really getting so few applications that this is what they end up with
This series especially while most of them deserve to be booted off the show I feel they especially got the first two firings wrong, there were people far more at fault than the two guys that got fired in weeks 1 & 2
I know it's reality TV but it used to be semi serious, now I feel it's just another way to become Instafamous |

I watch it just see what knob heads they really are..there again I should k ow I worked I Television for many years..but if they weren't it wouldn't make good television..lots of it is preplanned and instructed as to what to say and how to behave and react..dont forget.. its just a television programme. its has to be controversial as well as entertaining |

I watch it when I’m working from home and if I miss it, it’s no big deal anymore.
I find it’s a bit repetitive to be honest, the same crop of contestants, young people with an arrogant attitude.
What I’d like to see is a series in which the age range was 45 + how would an older generation deal with coming up with new ideas within businesses they’d possibly never been involved with ?
Would there be more common sense ?
More courtesy ?
The general attitude that business has these days is the younger the better, but wouldn’t it be great to see a older workforce being inventive, ambitious, energetic and showing what experience can produce ?
Or next year just the same formula |

I think that’s a brilliant idea. Especially as so many long standing businesses have failed due to the pandemic and not their owners lack of capability. They could do with a leg up from the show for relaunching. It would be nice to see more experienced people having a go. |

I think it was B&Q that actively encouraged applications from an older work force. At the time it received positive feedback as the older person would be more knowledgeable and friendly. Often ensuring those people who didn’t have the skills to put up a shelf or something similar, not feel stupid for asking a genuine question.
In my local newspaper an older gent who works for B&Q in our area got a lot of praise for showing a young child how paint is mixed. Also an older guy in Timpsons who taught a child how to cut a key.
But the closest we’ll get to it, will be some sort of celebrity special |

Yeah on the whole, B&Q are great for that and usually the people that work there are very helpful and friendly. I did have one issue with a chap who, when I asked him where the parts where when I was repairing the flush on my loo, laughed and asked me if I don’t have a brother or a boyfriend who could do that for me. I was not impressed to say the least. That was a one off though and usually they are a lot more helpful |

Yes, my ex Wife was once told by an older sales guy that a kitchen was so easy to install, so much so, even a woman customer managed it
We got our kitchen from elsewhere
Some could do with getting with the times but I like to think they’re the minority. |

Haha I love it but I agree with the OP, they don't seem to have a clue about some of the most basic things, yesterday's one about the driveless pods was just so cringe I can't describe it.
To be fair I mainly watch it as I love women in business and office attire.
Stephanie is my favorite this year but it's all about Claudine Collins in the interview round |

I have a feeling that bit is not entirely true! |

The stars of the show are really the researchers who single out these idiots on purpose because it makes good TV. The Apprentice would not be at all entertaining if the contestants were actually skilled at the tasks given them. |

I agree that the idiots are sought out on purpose. I don't agree that the show wouldn't be entertaining if the contestants were skilled. The original programmes were watched for just that reason. We watched to see who 'got the job' , just as we watch skilled athletes.
I believe the programme was dumbed down to enable it to compete with modern 'sex and stupidity themes' and appeal to a younger audience.
Social media applauds stupid people. A lot of comedy is heading that way also. Act like a circus clown , while shitting on your tits and you have the perfect act. |

Omg this season is sooooo bad.
I’ve always watched the show cos makes me laugh and smile and yes you usually get the crazy people but at some point it becomes just the proper business ideas.
This year maybe cos the covid break it feels more like love island or something they all say have business sense but ong it’s the worst group seen.
But it also funny and cringe to watch |

When it first started back on 2005 (on BBC 2 i think), It was much less dumbed down like it is now. The contestants were generally there on merit & not entertainment valve. Sadly it got popular, moved to mainstream BBC1 & suffered as a consequence.
It's still entertaining but, for the wrong reasons. |

I’m a bit pissed off they didn’t have the buying task again where they have a list of items to buy for the lowest amount
Unless I missed it? I don’t recall it |

No they haven't this year and I usually love that episode.
I feel Aaron was shafted last week
What's the predictions for the final two? I reckon Harpreet and Brittany |
