Today the queen celebrates 70 years on the throne and it marks a truly historic moment, the celebrations are expected to be across the country, will it be shown on tv? What do you think of her reign? I would say that she have done a good job of representing the country |

I think she's presided over a 70 year period of huge change probably second only to the changes seen by Queen Victoria. I don't think she's influenced much she doesn't have the authority or power and I think fewer people are interested in the monarchy nowadays.
Overall I'm interested in the workings of the monarchy but I don't have any respect for the individuals within it. They are hugely privileged and live lives that none of us could even imagine. The queen has stayed at her post through thick and thin but so has my dad who is a year younger than her and cares full time for my mother. |

I am a republican and as such I think it's all a bit of an irrelevance in this day and age. It's a bit obscene for the royal family to have castles and palaces to choose from, not to mention a new "royal yacht" in the pipeline, when people are struggling to feed their families and keep warm. |

Long live the Queen
I love Queen Elizabeth, and she’s done us proud
I do wish she’d order: Off with his head to Bojo the absolute clown
She brings in so much tourism, the family bring awareness to many causes, the there is things like DofE and the princess trust, they do not just sit around all day
It will be a sad day when she passes xx |

"And they have a beautiful palace that's open to the people all year round.
If you pay £30 each"
Yes the same as Buckingham palace but far more beautiful and visitors can, if they wish, buy tickets to individual areas at lower prices. The gardens are free to visit most days. |

The palace of Versailles takes visitors but France dispensed with their royals quite some time back.
