If someone is in hospital and you are not their next of kin will the hospital tell you anything about how they are doing?

Haven't heard from them since Thursday and they were pretty poorly. It's kind of consuming all my thoughts right now.

Call the hospital. It’s the only way to find out if they will tell you anything.

Call them, they can confirm the person is there and if your lucky get someone on the line who might share some info with you.

That's the thing, I don't. I can guess between 2 though so I might ring them and see.

I'm also a bit worried it seems a bit stalkerish but we are quite close. Just his family (dad etc) doesn't know about me so don't want it to cause any issues. Not that we're doing anything wrong, he's just pretty private aboit what we do as it's kinda kinky lol.

Good luck. I hope you reach them and they can let you know the most basic information of reassurance at the very least, even if you're not next of kin. Not knowing is an awful feeling.

Also..... What if he's not there?

Also.... What if its the worst news! His dad has instructions to call me apparently but obviously that will be far down his list of priorities if that's happened.

Am I over thinking this?

He's been poorly before and pulled through but this time it's covid on top of some already serious health issues.

They really shouldn't but it's worth a try.

You're a concerned friend, that's all they need to know and it's true.

Could they just tell me he's there? Nothing personal about his Condition etc?

I think it depends on who you end up speaking to. Some will, some wont.

Put your mind at rest and try. Nothing ventured and all that. I hope they are okay though.

Call them Evie. Or do you know any of his friends or anyone else you could ask?

Glasgow

Just phone up and say you are phoning on an update on your brother. The receptionist will find his name on the computer and put you through to the ward

The staff will not give out any details but they can go to the patient and ask their permission to do so.

Central switchboard can tell you the ward, whether they will or not is another matter.
