"It was honestly like eating cardboard"

Well cardboard is made from wood pulp, and a tree is technically just a big plant, so what do you expect?

Woah woah woah. Hang on a sec.

Those are beyond meat burger patties. They are awesome. I have fed them to meat eating friends and they have enjoyed them.

Its been a couple of years since I ate meat, but I do still remember what it tastes and feels like, and beyond meat burgers are about as close as you can get.

Ok, rant over! Hehe

I can remember when McDonald's used to serve nothing but cheap, crappy food. The other week I went into one for the first time in years and was surprised at how much things have changed.

It's actually quite expensive now...

My wife had one and really liked it.

However I would not even bother unless they’d run out of all meat, and there was nothing else on the menu, and it was the only place left open after a night on the pop!

Curiosity got to me

Thought the flavour was ok. Not the worst, but also nowhere near the best burger I've ever eaten.

But the texture is a massive no no

I agree. I like meat free burgers and have had some really good ones and some really shitty ones. The Beyond Meat burgers I've cooked myself have been spot on. A Beyond Meat Burger flipped by a 14 yr old in a shitty McD's on a roundabout rammed in between a trading estate and the council tip and being payed £1:50/hr with a free slurp of the milkshake machine before it's served is going to taste crap.

It's good to have a vegan burger available pretty much anywhere you go.

There are far better options but the easy availability is good.
