It wont affect me as I dont drink, currently the average cost of a pint is about £4.07 and apparently beer prices could rise to £7 a pint as pubs set to hike prices by 50p due to soaring inflation, the reason of the increase is as pubs battle inflation and supply chain issues, is the supply in europe?

People will only have to go out if they can genuinely afford it.
More people will be drinking at home rather than going out, which will have a knock on effect on the industry.
It must be worrying times for anyone in the trade. |

"£4.07 + 50p doesn't make £7I thought so too, it said so on the news site, maybe it is additional costs on top of that."
The £7 pint will probably be in clever, clever London. |

It’s why all the kids go for “pre” as they call it - load up on cheap booze at home then go out. I dunno what they do in the Nordic countries - but Sweden is still the most expensive place I’ve bought a beer. £11 in about 2011 |

"£4.07 + 50p doesn't make £7
I thought that "
A little more context from an article about it.
"Londoners pay £4.84 for theirs on average, but the cost of many pints in the capital is now more than £6."
So yeah an extra 50p would make those pints be roughly £7
Thats a more impressive and controversial headline than the much more broader 50p price hike on beer |

Cheapest pint I ever purchased was in a village in Czech Republic in the year 2000 when visiting my deported friend, it was 15 PENCE equivalent in her village pub |

The important part of that sentence that is missing from the article is ‘in London’ customers may have to pay over £7 a pint. "

"In Qatar a pint is £10. Bad news for England football fans
It won't stop 'em
Will it stop them throwing pints up in the air when England score ?"
When the world cup starts it will be much more than 10 quid a pint |

Nah, they would rather go to the cheapest accommodation or sleep on the streets while there than miss out on being able to get those few extra pints. |

is the supply in Europe? Does a bear shite in the woods.
As a nation that is hooked on Dutch, Danish, Belgium(and not the good ones) , Italian and ozzie beers ye are ffked,
Out of the top 10 most bought beers in the UK only 2 are home grown,, 3 actually as Stella is only Belgian in origin, brewed in Oz and UK now and no 1 should ever have to pay more than 1.50 for a pint of that muck, carling should cost 2.50 at a push and Tennents should be free, the rest are mostly Euro beers. Or Mexican if your still on a Wspoons 1£bottle of Corona.
On a serious note though if prices do go through the roof it will be the last straw for the people, ye guys pick holiday destination or don't more to the point _ased on places where cheap pints of Piss sorry Beer flow freely. There will be riots |

Thankfully the only beer I’m drinking these days is brewed just a mile or so away from the bar I drink it in.
I’m doing my best to create a supply problem but it always more than keeps up with demand. |

£4.07 I the average... you will have some charging more and some less.
Somewhere must be charging £6.50 a pint and the extra 50p will push it up to £7.
This is starting to sound like an episode of Money Box |

I bet you even know that today's date is ²/²/²².
And later this evening it will be 2/2/22 22:22:22.2222222222
Makes you think huh?" It is not my mistake as I did explain further up as I also thought it was strange as that is what the news article said. |

Yeah, that's the media for you. Trying to blown things out of proportion again.
Average price is £4.07, so the new average will likely be £4.57.
But prices 'could' go up to £7 in some case. This is likely only going to be the in pubs that are already charging £6.50. |

Today I heard “Levelling Up” being presented in terms of the cost of living being markedly different in regions across the UK….. rather than the usual of it being about opportunity and more equitable share of national
Prosperity.
Maybe they basically meant soon enough a pint will cost £7 everywhere. |

I think £4.07 for Hull is a rip off lol "
Probably worth more than that if you knock it down and sell it for scrap. |

"What are these expensive pubs selling beer for £4+
I pay £2-£3 depending where I go "
It will related to local real estate prices and cost of living. It tracks the difference in house prices more or less. Then on top you have the “prestige” value of the venue even if in London or Hull. If they think they can get away with it they will try.

Back when I was a lad(well, I was 22ish), a pint of smiths cost £1.95 but a half was 97p. I was a barman and I’d say 80% of the old boys in the pub ordered 2 half’s to save that penny…. They’d be turning in their graves at a £7 pint! |

I was paying €7 euros for a half litre years ago at a bar at the Rialto Bridge in Venice. If this is us catching up with the rest of Europe, then it would seem like we haven't done so bad up to now with beer prices over here. |
