Do you get online grocery deliveries and if so which one do you prefer. I use most but fed up with some choosing products with very short use by dates, rotten fruit or broken eggs etc. What is your experience and do you call them for a refund? |

Yes and actually was given a voucher of £10 a while back from waitrose for a mistake they made with my order. |

^^^This. When we have had issues, you can send them a quick social media message with a pic of the issue e.g. broken eggs, and they refund no problems. |

I get online shopping from tesco find them good I also work as an online shopper for sainsburys! If u find anything not up to standard tell the delivery driver and they refund u ! The dates can b tricky as can only pick what's available! But with sainsbury we short life it so the customer can choose to decline it x |

Have used Tesco a few times, never had a problem with them either, usually got in stock what I have ordered and if they haven't they will always give a better alternative and always in good date. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again. X |

Thank you. Yes they are usually good. Most allow you to put notes, in which case I ask for longer date if that is important, but not all of them have the option to add a note. Before Xmas I ended up having to freeze lots of stuff as they had such short dates so that it was safer to do that and then defrost when needed. |

I don’t tend to go direct to the online supermarket now, to unreliable. If I do a big shop it’s Morrisons via Amazon, ordered, picked and delivered within the day.
I do smaller two day shops via apps instead at all but Tescos. Delivered within the hour so no issue with sell by dates, refunds instant if anything out of stock or incorrect. |

And that is the reason I go to Morrisons early every Saturday morning, I want to choose what I buy, not have someone send me what they think I should have. |

Lol! No time to squeeze! Some of the youngsters dont take much care picking! Which is how they achieve the pick rate easy! I just about make it most days! But very hard to get there and pick what I would want to receive! We have to pick 176 items an hour which when spread all over the store can b very difficult! Especially when the store opens and u get the customers standing in yr way staring in to space! Turning the product over and over then putting back on shelf after half an hour of examining it!  very frustrating as have to stand and wait for them to move x |

I can imagine and also some will no doubt want to ask questions too. I will be a model shopper from now on around pickers and wait sileny for my turn. Seriouy though it does sound hard work with that kind of number, it's like 3 items per minute. I assume you have states on  |

Actually I said today to one of the others I need skates! Yes people do ask allways happy to help though! Tbf most customers are great! Like everywhere u get the knob heads x |

I work as an online picker for sainsburys too and our IPH is 178 now and the stock is never in the correct place so we spend more time looking for the product now |

Picking orders and working in a supermarket is part of my 'almost retired' plan after a career in the NHS that almost killed me and I'm loving it.
We should always look for the longest dated item, it's standard practice but in practise not always possible.
If the shelves are really full, crates really heavy (vegetables) or out of reach, it's sometimes difficult to get to the freshest stuff. All pickers in all supermarkets are timed, some foodstuffs have to be bagged by law, chilled and frozen has to be done in under 30 minutes to comply with food regs and when the shop is open, we have to give existing customers priority over shelf access.
The reasons you sometimes get weird substitutes is we can't pick from another area. For example, if you ordered frozen yorkshires and we don't have any, I can't sub with the fresh ones as they are not in the same 'zone'.
We all try though!
I don't shop online anymore as I'm a yellow sticker hunter but when I did, if there was a note function, I would leave little messages for the pickers to try and brighten their day a bit. |

It's the bloody alcohol aisle I hate, I don't drink at all and it takes me bloody ages to find the right stuff and if I have to sub, the poor customer must think their picker has gone barmy. |

I can't tell you how lovely it would be to see that. When customers are in and we are picking, stocking shelves and rolling crates, we are often ignored or treated as if we can't get a better job by some.
It's lethal to be on the ground or up some steps, they don't care if they knock you off or run over feet. |

The stories above about the work of picking in supermarkets is why we use Ocado......
As a wheelchair user in the supermarket, I'm one of the people who gets (without trying to) in the way of the online shopping pickers. I find it as frustrating as they do, I think. |

I buy online from Tesco, click n collect though because then i choose the time i pick it up.
Sometimes food, especially meat, is close to the use by date, they used to put a note on about it, however one time there was 3 packs of meat all with the day after as their use by date, i didn't see that until it was out of date, took it back for a refund, they weren't happy doing it though.
We check the dates straight away now even if there isn't a note.
There have been some odd choices at times, i ordered 2 potatoes (jacket spuds) and got 1 huge and 1 small potato |

Yes, it's the date thing that gets me too. Its ok if it's things you can freeze but some you can't. You would think it's common sense but I do appreciate what someone posted above that they have very little time to pick an order and not easy checking every item. |

I haven’t done a big shop in the supermarket for years. Online deliveries have been fine for me, the stuff is usually just as far in date as it would be in the shop, anything that’s wrong gets refunded. |

I used to use Iceland online but didn't get much for my money. I changed to Asda online and I can't fault them. Anything not available gets substituted which are always good items x |

I mostly use Morrisons and Asda.
I've had a few substitutes I've sent back but most of the time I've got what I wanted.
Asda do an express delivery now, which is more expensive but comes the same day, if you can get a slot.
I've used deliveroo which picks up from a Co-op. |

Since acquiring my disability, we've found it much easier (as a family) to use online deliveries on a fortnightly basis for "big shops" with small top ups in between. Mr KC doesn't drive so if we go to to a big shop, I automatically have to go along. |

I tried it a couple of times during our first lockdown and couldn't really get the hang of it...things like ordering '1' banana meant ONE actual banana as opposed to a bag or bunch of them...that sort of thing. I mean, really, do people buy bananas by the number as opposed to a bunch?? 
I also don't like their replacing the items with something similar. I have since found that you can switch this option off but still.....
Overall, I'd have to be pretty desperate to order online again. I prefer going there and walking out with far more rubbish than the one single item I had planned to go in for in the first place and buying yet more bags to put then in because I was sure I didn't need any of the 200 that are in my car already.  |

Tbf I often wonder if they meant to order one pack like once some one ordered 25 pink and 25 white grapefruit weather it was a mistake! But certainly put my pick rate up that day x |

Use Tesco or occasionally Iceland and never had any major issues. I generally pop into the greengrocers for fruit and veg though as the quality is better than the supermarket, and ditto the butcher's for meat. |

I do try to get fruit and veg from greengrocers too but sometimes choice is limited when it comes to 'niche' products and certainly use a local butcher as they can often cut you exacy what you want like for example diced beef - I like big dices, not those little things that dissappear in a stew-. For all household and other items I use online and tbh have used almost all of them as it depends what slots are available. Interesting to see some still use carrier bags and some don't. |
