Stormy weather

Does anyone else love wild weather like this? Our house is taking a fair battering but I love the sound of it I usually listen to storm sounds to help me drift off but the real thing is better, especially when you're all snuggled up in bed.

Are you getting a pounding from this storm?

We’re copping it from some high winds here. I’m worried for my garden fencing. Trees have been cut down over the winter so I’m no longer concerned with falling lumber.

Nobody’s pounding me!

Lucky you, getting a pounding

Its a bit windy up here, but not as bad as you have it.

Tonight's isn't too bad but last night was a bit rough. Nothing compared to Storm Arwen though, that was quite scary. Winds in excess of 100mph and it felt the whole house was shaking. Serves me right for living high upon an exposed hill top.

Was that the one late November last year? If so we had quite abit of damage from that too. It does get abit tense when the high winds start to sound expensive

Yes it was 26th November, when there were horrendous amounts of power cuts.

I only wish I was back home by the sea...love hearing the crashing waves as well as the wind.

Where abouts were you when you lived by the sea? We absolutely love having a drive up the coast through Blackpool and upto Fleetwood and beyond too watch the waves and the seafoam crashing over the defences on days like this, especially at high tide, our kids love it too but obviously from a safe distance

Wirral

The waterfront road has been closed because the waves are crashing over the sea wall and flooding the road.

Great to watch but it would be nice to think at some point I'll get some sleep tonight if the wind drops enough that my windows stop whistling!

I'm originally from a little village back home in Scotland right on the coast, was absolutely amazing watching the water come up over the harbour railings x

There's something so primal about a proper storm.

I am on here trying to take my mind off the creaking roof!!

I quite like a bit of thunder and lightning or some rain, but it always sounds like something bad and expensive will happen when there are strong winds.

Our fence fell over in the November storm, still finishing off the new fence, would be depressing if that fell over before it's even finished.

I hate it, i can hear my roof tiles lifting with the gusting wind, and the rain is hammering.. I sleep in the attic room, so its pretty loud .. The wind is also coming through the eves and lifting the floor boards

No sleep for midnight tonight

Go for a ‘hit & miss” design of you want it to last in regular sustained high winds.

I presume that's some sort of leave a gap between the slats fence?

Last fence lasted over 30 years, died of rot so new fence is in a fairly safe location.

New fence design is a horrific "how can I bodge this to reuse part of the old fence" (to save the environment LoL) design. With an added bit of "those metal post repair spikes will be fine". - needless to say it's a bit wonky and wobbly and probably won't last 30 years. - I just need it to outlast the wife's scepticism of my design choices.

It was rather windy on Saturday but nothing very wild about it here.

Yesterday was perfectly calm with brilliant sunshine and a clear blue sky.

Now, it's tranquil.

I want a good snowstorm!!

Love the sound of it when I’m ashore but not so much at sea.
