Depends what they are. Floor pile is also an option.

I try to hang them as much as possible to cut down on the need to iron them

Always hang, don't like creases. Jumpers, briefs, socks and such like, folded of course.

Mr is very OCD when it comes to clothes storage. One side of the dressing room for new/clean. Other for worn. Rail in the middle for what’s being worn that day to air before going back in (unless it goes straight in the wash).

Dresses and blouses hang in wardrobe, everything else is folded in drawers.

Coats, jackets, dresses, blouses, jumpsuits etc hang. Jumpers, jeans skirts, tee shirts, underwear folded in drawers. I always air coats and jackets before hanging them back in the wardrobe along with any clothes I'm not putting straight in the wash.

My collection of "alternative" outfits is folded in containers on shelves in one of the wardrobes

Everything except underwear gets hung up. I have three built in wardrobes and none of them have shelves so hanging is much easier for me.

I hang my socks and fold my shoes. Trousers get hung in picture frames like signed football shirts. T shirts are rolled and stored in pint pots
