So I’ve been to New York a few times have family over there who lived around queens and Harlem so I’ve experienced the real New York you could say haha I still haven’t done the tourist attractions but there on my list of things to do next time I go over, I was there for 8 weeks in the summer when I was younger handing out flyers around time square and got to meet and talk to some of the best characters you could meet and I’ve just found a channel on YT called sidetalk they post one minute clips of people all around New York, it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea I’ll say that but I think there hilarious and definitely worth a look |

Folk should be aware that since Covid, prices over there have gone up by at least 50%.
A meal in a good steakhouse that was $100 2 years ago set our friends back $180 when they went a few months back.
So the dream of cheap shopping etc seems to have died sadly. |

I wouldn’t say that the price increases have been that noticeable. $180 for a steakhouse dinner (Keens, Peter Lugers etc) seems reasonable, if not cheap. You would never have been able to get a good dinner for 2 for $100.
I’ve noticed a couple of changes, but more like $0.50 being added to a drink, $1 to an appetiser or main but nothing too drastic.
Always happy to help with advice for people coming over… |
