Had what thought was a good price offered for auto renewal by existing insurer; Privilege, but as usual went onto a couple of price comparison sites to check..
and thru the site that uses the annoying opera singer got the same policy with same insurer, but with HALF the excess, at some 23% less than was offered directly !!
.. Least the insurer had the decency to match the price offered
How many of you shop around or do you stay loyal to what they offer automatically?? |

"I treat insurances like my men... I do my homework and a lot of shopping around, comparing, evaluating before I hit on one
Lol There's a few Gold nuggets amongst the turds!

I do very similar, except if my lowest quote was £432 I'd tell other companies I'd been offered £350. Worked the last two years (advice from a friend who works in insurance sales) |

I shop around each time I get a renewal, and funnily enough I find a cheaper deal. If more people shopped around perhaps insurance companies would be less inclined to rip us off.
Same goes for home insurance! Knocked £150 off my renewal when I found my current insurer offering a cheaper deal on a price comparison website. |

I cant shop around as easily as i used to, purchased a mpv with a tail lift, useful but a pain in the butt where comparison sites are concerned. also on paper the lift has a higher value than the vehicle.
Still barter over the phone though, usually gets a better deal. |

"My renewal insurance on my 1994 Volvo in June was £520, I only paid 400 pounds for the car in 2009, I went online and got a quote for £240 with swift cover. " found swift really good in the past but not with them now

I always shop around especially for my car insurance, this year I was not going to change it as it was a very good price but I bought a new car and the price they gave me was very high, so shopped around and got it over £50 cheaper! I no longer shop around though for cheaper gas, electric and mortgage as I don't think anyone could match what I pay |

"Hastings quoted me £430 to renew for my Golf gti, but got it for £150ish from Saga.
Sometimes it's good to be an old fooker "
I have just bought a Japanese import golf cabriolet 1995, I was offered £70 pm with my old insurance company so shopped around through Tescos and got £42 pm with Diamond (about £500 fully comp), Saga wouldn't consider the car at all as its an import. (Sorry I work on per month payments, makes sense for me when I am working out my finances) |
