I just signed up for a free month trial with netflix so the kids can watch some films whilst away. It then prompted me to download the netflix app but when I tried it said I needed ios5. I searched the internet on how to get it and it seems I should have the option for software update in the settings but can't find it! |

Which iPad do you have? Netflix doesn't work on the 1st generation iPads.
If you have a 2nd or 3rd gen model, connect your iPad to iTunes and check for a software update that way.

"I don't have a pc anymore, hence why I use the iPad lol x"
You need a computer to upgrade to iOS 5. Once you have that, all updates can be done on the iPad itself.

"Check your settings see if it can update itself via wifi, my iphone4 does but will have to chat to Matt to see if his ipad1 does.
Colette. "
iPad 1 can update itself wirelessly but only if it has iOS 5 installed. To get it up to version 5 from a lower version you will need a computer to update it. Or take it into an Apple store they will probably do it for free.
Also as a heads up iPad 1 is not compatible with iOS 6 so 5 is it's last supported version of the operating system. |

Software update option only appear once you have the ios 5 installed. You will need a pc or go into an apple store who will do this for you.
I'm sure that's right? |

I think its very out of date that option was put in a while back maybe a friend with a pc could let you access itunes, once it has installed that option it should be ok to run without a pc.
