You could say he's invention was gangsta rap... Onetime failed NFL defensive line backer for the LA Rams turned bodyguard Suge knight burst one night into Vanilla Ice's Hotel room.
He was accompanied by a bunch of guys that beat up Ice's bodyguard so bad the others ran off.
Suge dwarfing Vanilla Ice put his arm on his shoulders and escorted him out on to the hotel suite 15th floor balcony, he threatened to throw him off unless he signed some papers he'd got with him giving Suge the writers royalties for Ice Ice Baby.
Vanilla signed and the money Suge received started Death Row records.
Death Row also instantly signed with its ill gotten gains Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg & The Dogg Pound, D.O.C, Thug Life and Tupac etc...
So the West Coast Gangsta sound was born  |
