Hyper drives are capable of fairly short hyper jumps of around 250 ly or so. They are somewhat unreliable and use a lot of energy, typically from a nuclear reactor or huge reserves of liquid fuel. Hyper drives skim the vessel through a kind of gap between the warp and real space-time. Accidents are rare but they can result in median time paradox situations.... |
