1950's Original

Vera Lynn lied to us all... blatently.

They'll be bluebirds over the White cliffs of Dover..

Oh really Vera..really ...

Are you sure you weren't lying through your teeth..

Bluebirds in the UK..no way José.

Were you having Cheese and Wine parties while Britain was at war...... unbelievable.

Now..."They'll be budgerigars over the White cliffs of Dover" ..just about believable..

I'm off for a rest now as I'm incandescent with seething rage..at Vera's blatent lies...

You said lies, plural, but only mentioned 1. Ergo I must call you out, dig my heels in, and argue with you for 173 more posts…

Just because bluebirds haven't been seen over the white (ha have you seen them close to?) cliffs of Dover yet, doesn't mean there won't be at some point.

Just googled the lyrics for this and at no point do they mention blue birds over the white cliffs of Dover.

Quite

Even films tend to use the coast between seven sisters and Eastbourne for the white cliffs

On a mooch

The song was written by an American who had no idea the UK didn’t have blue birds.

I’ve always thought of them as pigeons, the homing kind, which were used a lot for communication

"The song was written by an American who had no idea the UK didn’t have blue birds.

And it does flow better in the song rather than perhaps "there'll be starlings over ..."

She was a liar though. I met her at a function in the 80's and she told me that we'll meet again. We never did.

She's at it again . Does this woman ever tell that truth ?

"A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square" did it really Vera.. did it really...

( lyrics... Songbirds sing and Winter turns to Spring" )!

Oh come on now ...you're taking us all for fools ..

Nightingales are in East Africa in Winter..caught out by your lies again....

Now if she'd have said during the second world war we might be building nightingale hospitals we might have given you some credit..

What next .I ask you...

An American bald eagle sang on Nelson's column....

A robin tweeted on the internet

..where does this all end ..where..where...

Ps..I believe everything that Vera Duckworth said...at least she's got a bird in her name
