Since skirts/dresses started being lined the chance of a woman showing the hem of her slip/petticoats is rare sadly.

I'm pretty sure women prefer not having to get layered up to go out

Except for those who choose to wear petticoats. Petticoat in contrasting colour peeping out of the bottom of your swing dress is a style choice - though probably not a sexual one

I wear petticoats for two reasons. They stop my dress from clinging to my stockings or tights and they keep me warm. Most of my dresses aren't lined and having them doing to your legs is hugely annoying.

I wear petticoats for volume and it's obvious as when I do wear them. Slips I wear often because the skirts I wear often aren't lined and I don't want them clinging or being full of static.

I'm surprised more don't ware them makes an average skirt dress sit much better.

I love wearing slips. They keep me warmer, dresses sit better and depending on the slip I feel sexy in them.

Very true but and I'm probably showing my age here, the art of dressing has been lost in many respects.

The petticoats always clung to my tights. And the skirt ones always twisted around, which wasn’t really a problem but if they had a slit at the back and it twisted around it would get annoying.

I get too hot without extra layers and any positive effect of wearing petticoats is lost when one sits in a wheelchair

Chub rub shorts are a good alternative.

Sounds similar to what I've got. Mostly cotton. Only issue is that they're black, so when my dress is a bit translucent...

Wear slips/petticoats when dressing in a vintage style, however have found that slips can be a nightmare with fitted dresses, as they can twist round and become bunched up.

So annoying having to adjust your clothing, because it rides up and the slip ends up by the waist or hips, when it’s supposed to be at the hem of your dress or skirt.

Pretty but can be so impractical x
