"Watching the Dolly programmes too. "Coat of Many Colours" makes me
She seems to be a very lovely, kind and multitalented lady. Love Dolly!"
I saw her live in Dublin a few years back
I cried at one song she did
'Smokey Mountain Memories'
It's about her Dad leaving home and going to work in the motor trade to earn some money for the family, but he missed them too much and realised being with family made him richer than the $ |

"Definitely one of my guilty pleasures "
I don't even feel guilty
She's tremendous
Singer, songwriter, actress, screenwriter, director, philanthropist, business woman, wife of 50+ years
She's got it all going on
Dolly Partons Imagination Library - she deserves an honour if for nothing else but that
It's nice to see someone putting their fame and wealth to good use |

"Such a shame we never got to hear Elvis sing "I will always love you" who she wrote it for. But the Colonel wanted her to sell him the rights and she refused."
She didn't write it for Elvis. She wrote it as a response to Porter Wagoner trying to tell her she should write more ballads to remain on his TV show. So she wrote a break up song, to break up with him.
Elvis did ask to record it but she didn't want to sign over the rights, that bit is correct. |
