Sad to see things go
Jump to: Newest in thread
Having a chat the other day with friends we were talking about things in society that fade away or disappear
I have a bizarre one in that I'll kind of miss people wearing masks because when out shopping or instance it forces you to look at people's eyes ...and at that point I find all ladies attractive as it's the eyes that get it for me....weird I know
What thing or pastime or what ever do you miss that we all did once ? |

Wearing masks is still the done thing up here. Come to Scotland!
I think I miss the simplicity of life before smartphones. I mean, I know they make life easier in many ways, but still ... |

Yep. Things had greater value. People, possessions, emotions etc didn't seem so.... disposable and replacable. |

"Living in a world that felt hopeful instead of hopeless."
This.
I miss excitement of little things and simple pleasures that the world now seems to mock |

I am sure many lots of people will continue to wear them here too irrespective of no longer being mandatory.
Yes, I know what you mean about smartphones. I switch mine of when on holiday now, that's for sure. |

Really? That's not my experience. I mean, yeah, phones are evil this is a fact. However friendships and emotions and bonds have only got stronger, become more solid. Especially in the adversity of the last few years. As for possessions I've only ever cared about books, clothes and music and they remain as they ever were.
I really hope my experience isn't rare and also: hugs Peach, hugs. |

I do yeah.
That could be partly my issue as I'm crap at reaching out and do think "I hope I'm not disturbing them" when it comes to contacting people. |

I miss seeing people's smiles, or indeed frowns, when we're all wearing masks out and about. Sure, eyes are nice, but the mouth is most certainly the most expressive part of our face. |

Evenings of sitting talking, playing games or playing cards with nibbles, no distractions.
I am guilty of scrolling on my phone in the evening because I'm too tired to even talk some nights. Husband won't play cards with me either so if I want the above I have to go to my mums |

I’ll still wear my mask when out as I have ill fitting dentures that sometimes give me sore spots, so wearing a mask allows me to have a break and no one sees my mouth
I’m not sure I’ll miss wearing them though.

"Having films in CDs/DVDs and renting them around to friends.
You charged your friends ....crikey "
Sorry. Renting is wrong word
I meant lending. In schools, it was a thrill to pass around porn DVDs without getting caught. Something the kids these days will never understand |

There used to be a second hand book shop in Digbeth Birmingham..chocked full to the rafters with paperbacks/hardbacks magazines comics/graphic novels etc...really good stuff. Stuff you'd probably find hard to find in your average Waterstones..it was kinda like having an Amazon you could visit..
..in fact it was better, in terms of pricing and variety..
There also used to be a CD/DVD exchange shop on the Queensway rd, were I could pick up albums and singles on the cheap, or exchange stuff..
These weren't just places to purchase things they were places to visit and explore, experience..and occasionally you'd find a treasure or two amongst the jumble and tat. |

"I miss being part of the EU. With all my heart and every ounce of venom and bile I can muster. FUCK BREXIT."
I Was never vehemently European. I was simply born into it. But I did feel we became a slightly nastier place for having left..
