He was an underrated musician in some ways and did some big things outside of his career in music. Only 74 but he’d put a lot into his life so fair play to him, he’s important to many people. |

He was my 1st ever gig back when I was 13. Never looked back from that night as I loved it so much I decided there and then it was the only thing I wanted to do and. so far, I've only ever worked in the music industry since.
RIP Meat. You were a huge inspiration to many, many more as well as me. |

I've just woken to this news. My son, my dad, and even my mum had messaged me to ask me if I'd seen the news this morning.
Feel like I've lost a piece of my dad as daft as that may sound.
From childhood to the person I am now I've always had Meatloaf by my side (lyrically of course) and some of my fondest memories are Meat based.
My dad was always a huge fan. He has the Bat 2 album cover tattooed across his entire back. He'd never been to a gig, not just a Meatloaf gig but any at all. I had to change that and I did. Spent £130 a ticket (this was a fair few years ago) to take my dad to Hyde Park to see the man behind the music we bonded over. Dad was in heaven, I was overwhelmed. I was literally a couple of metres away from the soundtrack to my life.
When my son was born I would be reduced to a quivering wreck by his version of "forever young" and I'd play it while my son was sleeping begging if wishes came true that I could put those words into my child.
Him and dad are around the same age too, so it hits that bit harder.
Fucking devastated I am. |

When I was single, I developed s as ritual of always playing Bad Attitude by Meat Loaf on the way to internet meets. The opening chords still remind me of that sudden old excitement, when I didn’t know if the night would be heaven or a bust. |
