wow even in that times which were different it is ridiculous! Be interesting to know on what grounds the motion was justified. Maybe something like they said it was in the spirit of public decency! 110 or so years later and even in Manhattan there’s some crazy stuff. I’ve been quite a few times and what sticks in my head is I had an early start one day and was walking in the direction of Central Park. I just walked past the De Beers Jewellery Store and there was a person sleeping in the doorway with little on but had one Wellington boot and a plastic bag shaped into a hat and they were absolutely covered in sh*t. It was was extreme to the other living cheek by jowl

Someone who lives there and works in the bar that I go to when there told me that, the shelters that the city fund for homeless people, people with substance addictions and mental health problems are shocking and not safe at all and that many choose to sleep in doorways, metro stations and parks as they feel much safer |
