Cex gave a nikon d3200 online used for 225 with 24 month warranty and kit lens. Will do both well and give you scope to improve lenses if you wanted to expand |

Look for secondhand, much more bang for your buck. Recently got a Canon M3 for £230, can be as easy to use as a point and shoot or as complex as a DSLR. Plus has a flippy up screen for selfie and stuff like that if you want! |

I’d also recommend secondhand. Have a great camera shop local to me and they are very helpful when picking out one right for your needs. You’ll likely get better for your money. |

I have this model Nikon D3200 DSLR with video capabilities. Highly recommended. |

Somewhere you can go and see it, hopefully try it out (Cex won't let you handle the cameras because of Covid). Canon vs Nikon is much of a muchness really. I use Canon DSLR's so the M3 fits my workload, I know the menus, it made sense. Go with whatever feels right for you |

OP it sounds as though a DSLR may be a bit OTT for you.
I'd probably look at an advanced compact, something like the Panasonic TZ series. These give decent quality, a good zoom range & simple video capabilities too.

"We are looking for a camera or camcorder that takes good pictures and videos for under £250 does anyone have any suggestions please "
With your budget you’re looking at used or an inexpensive compact camera. (Currys had the excellent Panasonic LX15 recently for £260). But it depends on what content you are creating? A very high end smartphone may be a more appropriate fit for you. With cameras, there is always another accessory required! |
