Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

All week until next Sunday.

Waitrose have Green and Blacks on special offer, as well as many others.

I haven't checked the other shops yet but look out for the freebies too.

Any choccy recipes to share?

I have never had chocolate and guinnes cake. That could be interesting.

I bought a couple of the new Lindt flavours, just to test them out. I may have to try and new choc each day. I feel a trip to the new shop in Covent Garden is on the cards.

Probably eating on its own. There was an interesting looking dark chocolate, pistacio marzipan in that shop. If I try seven new things from different places then I will have expanded my chocolate horizons (it might be more than that).

Maybe I should make some chocolate cakes for the kids as well. They have already decided that chocolates are not sweets and should be seen as a specific food group.

I have just tested the new Lindt coconut. Much better than a Bounty bar. Good melt on the tongue and of the usual Lindt quality but probably not exciting enough to buy when it is normal price.

Please do post your chocolate re_iews and recipes.

Chocolate is savoury. It depends how you use it. This Morning showed a chocolate chilli recipe. The 'original' chocolate was used as a savoury drink with chilli. It is surprisingly clean and refreshing to taste.

You could just do the Malteser blowing challenge and try and beat the world record.

I used to have a recipe for chilli con carne where you "ran" some bitter chocolate through it, also had chilli and chocolate hot chocolate.

Replace the chilli with limes or a flavour you do like. Have you tried tasting bitter chocolates? I feel the need to take you chocolate tasting this week. I know I am proselytising on chocolate but it's just for this week, mostly.

'Normal' choc is usually missing the vital chocolate ingredient. Good chocolate is worth the price. You eat less of it, it has fewer fats and sugar added to it and farmers should be paid a fair price for their goods. As has been said earlier, it's also a vegetable and therefore should count as part of your five a day.

Its great when used in a Mexican Mole Sauce as well.....but you must use very good chocolate. Chocolate can also compliment venison

Today may include tracking down the recipe and ingredients to make a gluten free chocolate cake.

I'm not a big fan of chocolate cake but using almonds may change my mind. Even if I don't like it choir will eat it this evening.

I also need to seek out the chocolate covered blueberries. Delicious but they seem to have disappeared. Who has had them all?

It can certainly make you feel happier, even if for a short while. It's also good for a cough.

Today I sampled a Peruvian dark chocolate and an Ecuadorian milk chocolate. I couldn't find any from Ghana. I'm in town tomorrow so will try harder. Although, tomorrow I could pick up House of Commons chocolate too.

Most chocolate from Africa is extra bitter (75%+), at the moment we are playing with some 80.8% Ugandan extra bitter, it goes particularly well with sour black cherries or stem ginger, but really is for the customer who is particularly looking for this strength.

Milk chocolate with sea salt... delicious. Not quite as good as sea salt caramel but well worth the money.

Smooth, creamy and then a little hit of a salt crystal or two.

THAT's what it is! An allergy... if I take more anti-histamines will it help me eat chocolate and not get fat?

Absolutely - and if you eat it standing up then it doesn't count either! "

Great! I can have more of the chocolate sea salt then.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Today I had a couple of lovely taste sensations:

Bitter chocolate and orange. Little, sharp orange pieces in a luscious dark chocolate block.

Almond and honey milk chocolate. Whole almonds sitting on top of a slab of milk chocolate.

Both very yummy.

You just keep dangling these little nuggets in front of me. I am going to have to come to Torquay, track you down and I won't leave until I have tested everything in your range (except the things with ginger).

As chocolate week comes to an end I am going out on a 69.

Willie's Cacao Indonesian Gold, Javan Light Breaking 69.

Described as a delectable single estate cacoa with soft caramel notes.

I think it has a smoky, almost tobacco flavour. If you like sweet, mass produced chocolate it's probably not for you.

I hope you have all had some lovely chocolatey moments this week.

You know the snack aisles - how could you have missed them? Good quality chocolate but large scale production so not totally exhorbitant. The little mini bars are perfect sized but you could just break off one of the teensy weensy squares and make it last.

Try the cherry or butterscotch.
